Booster seat?

DS is almost 28 months. He currently rides in a forward facing convertible seat in my van, but we are looking for a seat for my husband's car. We checked out the high back booster seats with a 5 point harness thinking that would last until he was ready to transition out of it. I'm kind of on the fence though. What are everyone else's thoughts? When did y'all switch?

    He seems too young for a booster. My son is also 28 months and he is still rear-facing. Honestly, even if we were going to turn him around, we'd still have him in a convertible for a couple more years.
