My hospital was recently designated as baby first - the second one in the state. At first, I was excited since I am a c-section momma and they will let the baby in recovery with you. I will also be trying to BF after a reduction so I will need the odds in my favor. However, I've heard from two friends that just had babies since the new designation and it is totally different from my first two births. Almost complete rooming in - and I was not afraid to send baby to nursery. No pacis, no swaddling, no pain regimens - you have to ask for pain meds, they don't just bring it. Now I am nervous!
Any one else have a baby first hospital?
I am just thankful this is my third and I know what I want. If I was a first time mom, this would be so overwheleming.
Re: Baby first hospital
I also have not heard that swaddling isn't recommended anymore (I bought/received a bunch of swaddlers!)..... interested in clarification on this!
I'm delivering at a normal hospital and they encourage rooming in and skin to skin as well. But they allow you to utilize the nursery if you need to. Basically you do what you and baby needs/prefers.
Oh and my hospital that's just plain regular and happens to be Lennox hill.... doesn't employ CNAs, just good old fashioned RNs which Is a plus for me
