Hello ladies
I live in the UK and am 10 wks pregnant- I have had 3 miscarriage s in the past all before 6 wks - so this one looks like the one !!
My partner is from greece and he wants us to go to visit the family and relax for two weeks in July - I will be 23 wks pregnant , My Dr told me that if all is well with my pregnancy by then there is no reason not to and that as long as I take all the right precocions it is totally safe - what are your thoughts on this ? As my family all made me feel like I would be taking an unnecessary risk ? UK - greece is a 3 hr flight
Re: FLYING WHILST PREGNANT ???
I'm planning to fly overseas at 25-27 weeks (US to Spain and back). As long as I haven't had any complications, I'm not really worried about it.
Go enjoy the trip, and unless your family members are of the medical profession specifically OBGYN, I'd tune them out. It's unnecessary stress for you.
Just get up and move if you can a s stay hydrated.
I have friends who flew weekly until 35 weeks.
3 hours is not long. I'm frequently in the car longer than that with out breaks.
The airline agents are not doctors and cannot tell how far along you are unless you go around advertising your due date or showing signs of active labor (duh, why are you at the airport?). We kept it to short flights, no more than 2 hr legs, and made sure any layovers were in a city we wouldn't mind having a baby. I didn't deliver until 42 weeks.
I grew up in an airline family and am more comfortable in an airplane than in a car, but that's just me. It's all about what your comfortable with. I will admit that the baby's position those last few weeks determined my physical comfort on the flight...sitting straight up in that seat with limited options to move was brutal at times with a foot lodged between your ribs!

I'm going to be 14weeks on my vacation and the doctor advised that I get up and walk around when I can on the plane, to prevent from getting blood clots. I'm sure everyone is different though.
Have fun!!!!!!
