Re: Tuesday Twin Check In 4/14

  • Week/Fruits: 29 - Acorn squash

Twin Type (Identical/Fraternal/etc): Fraternal - team green

Symptoms: Being comfortable is already a thing of the past. Sore back, sore lady parts & swelling, sore feet - which now also have vericose veins to match the ones that have popped up my legs

    Appointment AW: Nothing this week

Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: I've never bought into the whole "push present" idea before, but I'm definitely getting myself something special for when I deliver this time. Anyone else treating themselves to anything special because they feel like they've earned it?

GTKY: What reaction are you sick of getting when people hear you're having twins?

"Omg you're gonna have 3 under 2? You're gonna have your hands full!" ...really? Coz I thought it sounded like I could pull it off in my sleep lol

  • >Week/Fruits: 32 week squash

Twin Type (Identical/Fraternal/etc): boy/ girl fraternal twins

Symptoms: feeling great except for swollen feet by the end of the day and more peeing.

Appointment AW: ultrasound and apt on Friday

Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: had an ultrasound last week and baby b wasn't growing as much as she should be- only put on 1 lbs in 3 weeks. Dr said not to worry it's very common with twins ( and she is still 3.3 lbs ) but it's hard not to worry. I guess I'll be monitored now weekly to make sure she is growing, I've been consuming a lot of calories to try to fatten her up.

GTKY: What reaction are you sick of getting when people hear you're having twins?

You look small for having twins, I know this seems like a compliment but it makes me feel like I'm not doing a good job of growing healthy babies.

I also agree with the " oh wow, twins! Good luck or the " do twins run in the family" it's also getting annoying.

Lastly, " get your sleep now because you're never going to sleep again" please, shut up forever.

I'm getting feisty in my last few weeks of pregnancy- does anyone know when they will deliver? Any c sections planned?
  • Week/Fruits: 32 weeks/ Squash

    Twin Type (Identical/Fraternal/etc): Fraternal Boy/Girl

Symptoms: I could breathe fire with the heartburn I'm having. Last ultrasound Baby A was breech and Baby B was transverse so there has been a lot of heads/ backs in my rib cage. Oh and itchy belly is in full effect.

Appointment AW: We have a doctor appt and ultrasound appt this Thursday. We will be getting ultrasounds every week now for biophysicals.

Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: I'm a little anxious not knowing yet if I will get the chance to deliver vaginally or c-section. Doctor says they wait until 36 weeks until they start making decisions.

GTKY: What reaction are you sick of getting when people hear you're having twins?

I agree, I am tired of getting the comment "oh your so small for having twins." I don't ever know how to respond because deep down it does make me feel like I'm not doing my job growing these babies.

Also, since we are having a boy and a girl people say "one and done." I'm like what if I wanted to have more children?
  • @Emilywooddesign I get the "you're so small for having twins" comment all the time and feel the same way. I know they're stacked like a Ying yang, but A has been measuring smaller than B so growth is def something I'm conscious of now.

@hailee8706 LOL oh the heartburn! Just started for me
  • @hailee8706 ohhh how could I forget the " one and done" comment. Yes we are thrilled to be having a boy and a girl but what if we want more kids?

I'm also feeling uneasy about the birth part. I've done a lot of research and have decided that I want to go with a c section ( for me personally) but when it will happen it making me anxious
  • @vflor87 seriously pregnancy heartburn is like no other. I take Zantac twice daily.

@Emilywooddesign yea that comment bugs me but I don't have the patience to explain to everyone our family plan so mosts times I just smile and nod lol I am thinking c-section is in my future, Baby A was head down up until the third tri then she flipped. Baby B has always been transverse and folded over himself.
  • I'm curious about movement. Do you guys feel both twins move a lot? Or do you feel one twin move more? Or is it hard to tell who is who?
  • My girl is more of a kicker, my boy likes to curl up and un curl. That's one way I know who is who and also because of their positions.
  • I'm curious about movement. Do you guys feel both twins move a lot? Or do you feel one twin move more? Or is it hard to tell who is who?

My boys were so different with movements. I usually wouldn't feel Baby B until I was laying down. His active time was right before bed. I took a couple trips to L&D at night bc i just couldn't get enough movement from him. It's funny though bc their personalities match exactly how they were in utero. Baby B is such a kick back and go with the flow type of kid.
  • I'm curious about movement. Do you guys feel both twins move a lot? Or do you feel one twin move more? Or is it hard to tell who is who?

I used to feel them a lot more than I do lately but the usual triggers get them going (when I eat or drink, when our toddler is climbing on me or crying, music). Since mine are vertex and breech and I know how they're positioned I can usually tell. Sometimes they both get really active and my stomach looks like something outta Alien. I told my husband I feel like a science experiment when they're both tumbling around like that.
  • 32 weeks: squash

    Di/Di girls

My pelvic pain is terrible, I feel like they could fall out at anytime lol.

I have an appt this Thursday with a Perinatologist since one twin was almost 12 oz larger than the last one at an us. Also they have switched which one was bigger. Hopefully everything is peachy in there :)

I get the omg you're small for twins.
Does it run in your family?

Hope al you twin mama's are doing great!
  • I'm curious about movement. Do you guys feel both twins move a lot? Or do you feel one twin move more? Or is it hard to tell who is who?

I feel baby A move more. They are both head down thankfully! ( I feel so bad for ladies woth a breech and transverse babies. One of mone was transverse around 20ish weeks and was so uncomfortable!)
  • @jjvanwagner25 OMG I feel like A is gonna fall out, too! I swear one of these days I'm going to reach down and feel a head.

And my husband wonders why I'm not as easily aroused as I was during my last pregnancy :))
  • Week/Fruits: 31 pineapples

Twin Type (Identical/Fraternal/etc): di di girls

Symptoms: pelvic pain, back aches, charlie horses, headaches, just pure exhaustion

Appointment AW: Nothing until next Tuesday

    Questions/Comments/Complaints/Concerns: Nothing

GTKY: What reaction are you sick of getting when people hear you're having twins?
I've only gained 5 pounds, but babies are perfectly healthy at over 3 and a half pounds each. I'm sick of people telling me I'm starving my kids and I need to eat more. I eat plenty. If my doctor was concerned, then I would be too.
Then like everyone else, the size of my belly. I'm already measuring full term. You can definitely tell I'm pregnant. I either get "wow you don't even look pregnant" or "wow, you've gotten huge". Um, thanks.
And the "do twins run in your family". I wish people would have a little common sense and just keep their mouths shut!

I'm already aware I'll have a scheduled c-section. With ds I had complications and had to have an emergency c-section. The girls are head down, but to avoid complications again, they're just going the safe route. And I feel both babies move a ton. Baby B was transverse, so I could usually tell which one was which. Now that they're both head down, they have their feet up in my ribs together so it can be more difficult to tell them apart. But like PPs have said, they both move together and my stomach just goes crazy!

  • @vflor87 I feel like I'm gonna feel a head too every time I wipe! Lol
  • I did just find out at our hospital tour that twins are delivered in the OR just in case something goes wrong. This was new to my husband and I and had to break the news to my mom she couldn't be in the room. Anyone else have to deliver in an OR if you try to deliver vaginally?

I've heard that is standard at most hospitals to always deliver twins in the OR, they also place an epidural needle just incase they need to freeze you fast. My hospital and all of the hospitals in my city do this I'm quite sure.

That's our hospital policy too. Along with the epidural placement.
  • Epidurals freak me out! What does placement me? Sorry if that's a dumb question.
  • They will do the epidural but if you don't want the medicine they will not give you medicine. The reason they do it is if there is an emergency and they need to quickly deliver you, they will not have to place it. They can just give you the medicine. The other option would be to go under general and miss the birth. Does that make sense?
  • Honestly, my IV placement was way worse than my epidural and I have great veins!

Yeah, that makes sense thanks! This twin business is tricky especially for a FTM!
  • Yes, it is! I found that "our" experience is much different than the singleton Mom but we get to experience some truly amazing things! I have this video of my boys at one years old and it cracks me up. One was banging his head on our slider to get his brother to laugh. It was so dang cute!
  • @jjvanwagner25 I delivered our first in a dimly lit delivery room completely naturally - no IV, no monitors, no epidural, no postpartum meds either lol we're a little intimidated by the idea of delivering in an OR full of staff and bright lights, but I'm looking forward to getting an epidural this time!
  • Hey ladies!

I'm only going to comment on what I'm sick of people saying. I get the sarcastic "good luck" so much I want to scream! It's so rude! Yes, I'll have 3 under 2 but it's not like I planned this...it just happened. I'll take it for what it is: a blessing.

Also, because we are having 2 girls and dd1 is a girl people assume our lives are going to be miserable and that my hubby is so upset. Uh no, he got over that on the car ride home from the appointment. We love our little girly girl and can't wait to have more. Plus, it's easy because we didn't have to buy anything but another car seat! Can you say cost effective? Lol
  • Epidurals freak me out! What does placement me? Sorry if that's a dumb question.

they will just put the needle in your back ( they don't actually give you the drugs unless you want them) they do this incase you need to have an emergency c section so they can freeze you fast.

oops, you already got your answer ;) hope your apt goes well tomorrow.

  • Thanks for all the info ladies!
  • @mamameghan Our pregnancy was planned, but we didn't think we'd conceive the first month we tried! (Gonna have 3 under 2, too) We're glad all the same. We haven't found out the sexes so when people give dramatic reactions to either not knowing or the possibility of both being boys or girls, we don't have much to say but shrug our shoulders lol Whenever a woman has said "better you than me!" I tend to agree haha

Ha! We must be the same person! Ours was planned but it took 3 years to conceive baby #1 but it was the first month for us too! People just get dramatic when it comes to twins...shouldn't I be the only one who's freaking out? Lol
  • @mamameghan Exactly! When it comes to what other people do with their lives I always say "Not my circus. Not my monkeys." I don't need anyone worrying about my monkeys dammit LOL
  • I've been asked a few times if we were trying for twins. Ummm, what do they think--we did it twice in one night???

It sometimes surprises me how little some people know about biology.

Oh this made me laugh LOL Whenever I hear people say "can't get pregnant twice" I ask if they've ever heard of fraternal twins
  • Did anyone else have their 1st trimester nausea come back with a vengeance in the 3rd trimester? I'm having morning sickness all over again
  • @vflor87 ugh that's terrible! Don't hate me but I never had morning sickness:/

Well my appt with the specialist gave me a little bit of anxiety. Dr. thinks the girls will be here in 2 weeks! They put me off work and I am most likely getting the steroid shot that strengths the babies lungs. This is all becoming very real very fast!

How exciting!!! What makes them think 2 weeks?

! 2 weeks is soooon!!! Has she packed on any weight? Shit is getting real -

  • @vflor87 @Emilywooddesign my cervix is thinning and their heads are so far down. She gained 2 oz in a week according to the us but the Dr. thinks they are so smooshed in there that they can't get a good measurement of the abdomen so the weights are proably off. Although baby b is weighing 4 lbs 4 oz and they are able to measure her very easily. Hopefully that is what baby a weighs too:)

34 weeks is pretty good for twins I'd say! The norm with ppl I've met seems to be 35 weeks, keep us posted! I'm sending you positive vibes
