I was really hoping for a Vbac and have been doing everything I can, tons of walking using my pump to try to stimulate contractions but I've been at 1 cm 80% effaced for 3 weeks. And they couldn't do my membrane sweep b/c his head is so low and my cervix is posterior. So unless I'm dialated to at least 3cm tomorrow when I go in I'm stuck with the csection.
I'm really worried about it b/c I have a 17 month old and after the first 2 weeks I will be home alone with both of them during the day and I'm not sure how we will deal if I can't lift my toddler. Hopefully it won't be an issue but I'm really nervous.
Re: Csection scheduled for tomorrow.
Some tips for helping your toddler:
1. Use a step stool to help them in and out of the tub, bed, car, & high chair/booster.
2. Do you have a detachable shower head? I used that for bathing, so I didn't have to bend as much.
3. Have a lot of sit down activities on hand. Then you won't have as much risk of them falling & needing picked up.
Good Luck!
Just sharing my story. Good luck in whatever option works for you!
be speedy. FWIW several of my friends have gone the RCS route voluntarily for various reasons and their recoveries went really well. I hope the same for you!
This time my doctor won't use pitocin b/c of the increased risk for uterine rupture but if I'm dialated to 3 cm when I go in shortly they will break my water for me to give me a chance to Vbac. The Foley catheter hasn't been mentioned, possibly b/c my cervix has been difficult to reach since it is posterior and his head is so low in my pelvis. But I'll be sure to ask about it.
Thanks for the advice and words of encouragement!
