Pregnant after 35

Sorry to beat a dead horse but would this concern you?

I know I just posted about this low abdominal pain and I'm so sorry to keep pestering everyone about it!   I just can't get these concerns out of my head!!  So for anyone new to my issue.. it's above the pubic bone.. very low abdomen.. very very sore and achy.. hurts to walk etc.  Nurse initially told me to go home and rest so I did.. used heat.. that worked great. As soon as I was up moving around again.. pain returns.  So they moved up my OB appt. to yesterday.  OB checked my cervix.. long .. closed.. normal.  But I can't get these placenta concerns out of my head!!  I did have placenta abruption with my loss at 20 weeks.. but I am not certain if the abruption happened before or after my water broke.. I think it happened after. It's just that even when I'm sitting here.. doing absolutely nothing.. my entire lower abdomen is just aching. It hurts. My OB didn't do an ultrasound or anything.  I have no bleeding. No change in discharge (sorry.. TMI)... baby seems to be moving like he normally does.  The fact that is' constantly bothering me is raising my anxiety a little bit.  Would that concern you or do you think I'm just being crazy?  I did not even have spotting yesterday after he checked my cervix.  I keep obsessing about symptoms!  I keep reading things online which I know I shouldn't do and the fact that some women don't have bleeding concerns me. It also notes severe back pain.. I would not call my back pain severe.. it's there and it hurts but it's not severe.

  • I'm so sorry you're still dealing with this!  I'm glad to hear that everything checked out ok with the baby at your appointment.  I think your extra worrying is very likely related to your history of loss.  Try to accept your doctor's assessment of the situation and trust that he/she would certainly be recommending additional testing or treatment if they suspected anything seriously wrong.  And try to stay away from Dr. Google (I know, easier said than done!)

Also, I second what some PPs have said in another thread - that chiropractic and/or physical therapy may help.  I have been seeing both throughout my pregnancy, and they have definitely helped (although I know my situation is not quite like yours).  I hope you find some relief!

  • It's like when you're menstruating and you have that annoying crampy/ache all the time... that's exactly what it feels like. It's not like a contraction.. not that I can tell.. but it's just very very sore. I feel like I need to lay down and curl up into a ball. All I want to do is lay down. It's so sore. I'm not wearing anything that's digging into that area either. I take tylenol day and night and it does absolutely nothing.

  • It doesn't sound like placental abruption symptoms, but if you are bothered by it to the point where it's causing you anxiety, then it is worth examining until you figure out what it is.

I would insist on an ultrasound, for starters. I would also perhaps seek a second opinion, if you don't feel your current OB is paying enough attention or giving you any answers.

I think I would ask for another ultrasound as well, if for no other reason than to help ease your mind.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this.

  • where you are describing the pain sounds very typical for symphysis pubis dysfunction.  Since you were just examined and checked out you probably are ok.  Unless your symptoms change or the pain becomes different.  Unfortunately with
symphysis pubis dysfunction I have never heard anyone say they did something that totally fixed it, made it go away.  They have just had to cope and deal the best they could.

With your history, of course you are going to worry!  Even if you had no pain or symptoms, you would still worry I am sure.

You could try to find another dr if you are not happy with yours.  Even if they tell you the same thing maybe you would just like the way they dealt with you better.
  • Thanks ladies!  So basically I just have to man up I guess. :(  I didn't want to sound like a baby when I went to OB but it's hard not to worry and let things kind of overtake the sensible part of your brain when you have a history of losing. This weekend I was actually surprised that I felt ok. We were even moving a bunch of crap around to accommodate for the new baby. I wasn't moving any heavy stuff but I was still on my feet for almost 2 days and I was up and down the stairs a lot. My hips hurt more than anything after all that. this morning my abdomen pain is back pretty strong so tonight I think I need to take it easy with my heating pad.

June 3rd cannot come fast enough! I am READY!

  • I'm in the exact same boat. I literally just returned from a vaginal u/s to check my cervix because I was preterm with my twins and my cervix started shortening around this time, and because I keep complaining of pains/cramps/constant ache. Everything looks perfect they say. I haven't felt ok in months :(

  • I'm bringing this up at my doc appt tomorrow too. I feel the same way, it's worse when I exercise. I agree with PP, and think you should stay off google. There are posts that could worry you for just about any condition. Trust your doctor. I hope it works out for all of us :)
