OMG! Red40 in prenatal vitamins!

I'm freaking out! I thought I was being so careful. I've been taking prenatal vitamins since before pregnancy and they've had red40 in them! My husband went to the pharmacy immediately to get new ones. Turns out most of them had red40! Words of comfort maybe? A warning to other unsuspecting moms.

If it was a danger, I doubt they would be in prenatals in the first place.

It's very scary what is classified as safe and normal in the US. Many of the ingredients commonly used here are banned other places. We buy organic when we can. Always when it comes to animal products. Don't scare yourself. staying away from chemicals where you can is beneficial but completely chemical free life is nearly impossible.

It's a dye used in food. In the USA we use lots of different dyes in almost everything. In a lot of other countries the dyes are banned. It doesn't do anything to the food except make it look pretty.

Mine don't have Red dye - but I'm using the vitafusion Gummy Prenatals. (only thing I don't throw up)

The quantity is probably very small. I wouldn't worry. There is Red 40 in my prenatals, but they are one of the only ones I don't puke up so I can't really change them. I took them all through my first pregnancy and breastfeeding my daughter and I have a happy, healthy, smart and not hyperactive kid. I'm not worried about it negatively affecting this one either.
