Completed terrified

We were away for the weekend visiting the in laws so my LO was completely off schedule this weekend.  He got very fussy and when my husband went to lay him down on the couch to change him his screams increased and meltdown mode insued.  As he actually laid him down all of a sudden this panic look came across my LO's face and his eyes seemed to jump back and forth (side to side).  I completely freaked out and screamed for my husband to pick him up.  It lasted for all of 2 seconds at the most but it took forever to calm my LO down after and now I am panicking that what I saw could have been a seizure.  He seems to have returned to all his normal activity, sleeping normally, smiling, eating, etc so I didn't call the pediatrician or take him to the ER while we were away but I am still panicking and wondering if anyone else ever went through something like this.  I am planning on calling the pediatrician in the morning.

  • I'm not a doctor but I don't think it sounds like a seizure. Best of luck with the doctor.

  • I don't know if this will help you achieve some sort of calm, but as someone who has a seizure disorder, this sounds very unlike a seizure. Granted, there are various types of seizures, some that involve the crazy jerking movements and spasms that people see on TV, and some that are completely internal and just look like daydreaming on the outside. I've had both, as well as everything in between. One thing they all have in common: you're never aware of what's going on around you. And any pain felt is not expressed outwardly through crying or meltdown mode.
Now, I'm a fully grown adult, and it may be entirely different for a baby. I'm no doctor, I wouldn't know. If it will help you find peace though, definitely take him to the pediatrician. Trust me, I know it feels silly; I just took my eight week old to see his just because he had some gunk buildup in his eye and I thought it might be an eye infection. Turns out it was just allergies. But I felt MUCH better taking him to the doctor, just in case! If it makes you feel better, don't feel silly, just do it!
Hope everything is alright with you guys. Prayers. :)
