Unusual Pain *maybe TMI*

Hi, I am 17 weeks, 4 days first time mom. And with the exception of horrible morning sickness, and a blossoming chest I haven't had any horrid symptoms. However, on Friday, I started havin this horrid pain. The best way to describe it is it feels like someone is pressing down hard with a brick on my vagina. (Tmi, sorry). I called my Ob tonight and they said to drink some water, take Tylenol and come in in the morning to be seen. I haven't had any bleeding or spotting... Just in a lot of pain and very uncomfortable. Anyone else experience this? Have any advice? Kind of worried being that I have never experienced pregnancy before, so I never know what to expect. Thank you in advance ladies!

Re: Unusual Pain *maybe TMI*

  • I'm sorry I don't have any advice, but I get a little uncomfortable pain down there and my doc said it's just round ligament pain that is perfectly normal. But aside from that, I would just do what your doctor said with water and Tylenol and try to relax until tomorrow. I'm sure all is fine, keep us posted!

  • I've had similar pain and found that keeping really well hydrated made the pain less noticeable.
  • I'm in a similar boat, can't get in to see the doctor until Thursday. Should be normal though. I'm only going in because there was some unusually high levels of discharge (with incorrect colouring) but in general doctors usually can't do much unless you have further symptoms. You might get signed up for some blood work and or a scan but bet on it probably being nothing other than the pregnancy and life.
  • I have pains there too. Drinking water helps and sometimes moving around so that baby moves makes a difference as well. I keep on thinking it is pressure because baby is just so low! When I feel baby higher up I am not as uncomfortable.

  • I've been feeling a lot of pressure down there too. I was only saying this to hubby yesterday, it reminds me of the pressure you get underneath after labour, the few weeks that follow.

I'll be 17 weeks on Thursday, I know there's lots going on down there at the moment, as I'm feeling baby moving about and my uterus pushing up, quite uncomfortable & painful to say the least.
A lot of it is ligament pain. I remember feeling this with my last pregnancy. You'll probably notice your bump getting bigger as well, I have for sure.

I wouldn't worry hunni, as long as your not bleeding or anything, I'm sure it's just growing pains, your doing the right thing getting it checked out, if it's worrying you.

Best of luck, I'm sure you and baby are doing fine :-)
Let us know how you get on xx @jlawson23
  • I get this. This is my 7 the pregnancy and its happened with everyone when the baby is low. Sorry to say but it gets worse as baby gets bigger. By the end sometimes the pain will knock me on m but when I first stand up :(

I get sharp shooting pain down there, I see my OB on Thursday and was going to bring it up. The best thing I've found for it is to not let my bladder get very full, if I wait too long and then go pee the pain is so strong I can't stand up.
  • Thank you ladies! I was thinking the round ligament pain would only last a few minutes, I guess I am just worried because I've never experienced this before. I am currently at the OB's office waiting to see if they want to see me today. I will keep y'all posted. Hopefully it's normal...
  • Update: i wasn't able to see my doctor, but the one I saw said everything seemed fine, including babies heart beat. They told me to rest and that the pain was normal! Thanks again ladies for the advice and concern. I really appreciate it.
  • Glad all is ok Hun :-) @jlawson23
