Exhaustion

small vent:
I am exhausted all of the time. It takes effort just to hold my head up to write this. I am 37 weeks, have a broken foot and am on disability. Is this normal? Shouldn't I be nesting? I could sleep all day, I don't want to socialize, I'm rarely hungry and it's kind of starting to freak me out. Has anyone else had extreme fatigue like this?

Re: Exhaustion

  • You are not alone. I'm still in bed in my pjs.

  • not alone at all... Im still working though, and so exhausted I dread every day. I have heard though it can be a sign that labor is near... your body is having you store up energy so you are ready to deliver. Here's to hoping!!!
  • I am dead tired. I had my shower this weekend and had several people come for the weekend. I love my people. I didn't get to enjoy them as much as I really wanted to. But I feel loved and supported :)
Now it is Monday and I'm dragging myself through the day. I could cry from the exhaustion and from the growing list of things I need to do today, this week... I want my pillow!!!
  • I just messaged my doula about this today because I'm worn out.  I wish I had the energy to nest, I'm doing things out of needing to get it done not because I feel like I should.  I'm 36 week and a teacher and I'm dead 5 minutes after getting out of bed.  I would much rather be at home then dealing with these kids every day.  I haven't even started my lessons for when I'm out either.

    You are not alone!
  • Thanks ladies. I make myself leave the house for at least one errand a day and try to see someone for lunch or coffee to keep busy and not become a couch potato, but yesterday I gave into it. Today I had lunch with my dad and will be attempting to build the bassinet. If this is a sign of pre-labor, bring it on! Haha

I am a teacher, too! I made plans for the next few weeks, but decided to stay a bit longer. Now I am using those emergency lessons ahead of time...I will need to make more. I teach high school and do not have a planning this year ( really small school)! I am so ready to go on maternity leave, but I want to save more money. I only have one sick day left. I used them all for appointments and issues in early pregnancy. I wish women in the USA were given a paid maternity leave. At least we get the summer! I cannot wait. I keep counting down the days until I can sleep in and recover from carrying this big baby bump!
  • I've been coming home and napping during my lunch hour to make it through the afternoon.

  • You are not alone at all. I've been feeling exhausted as well. I'm a FTM and am 36 weeks today. Honestly I could stay in bed all day, but have dogs so they get me up each morning :) If I didn't have them home with me, I'm not sure what time I would get out of bed each day. I just started my maternity leave yesterday so I'm hoping that being able to take naps throughout the day will help my energy levels.
  • I'm also 36 weeks today - no idea how I'll get thru the next 4 weeks at work. I sleep an hour at a time and am up to 3 pees a night. I wake up exhausted. I'm also stressing that baby might have flipped heads up so my yoga mat has a permanent place in the fam room so I can do lots of inversions.

  • I'm 36.5 weeks and I pray everyday that my toddler sleeps in so I can rest too! I'm just basically SURVIVING these days and I'm okay with that, there's not much I can do since I'm soooooo exhausted!!!!
