Excessive Fluid?

Hi all,
Was wondering if any of you have dealt with excessive fluid.
I am 34 weeks today, measured right on at 34 weeks yesterday at my appointment...however, they want me to have another ultrasound due to the results of my 3D ultrasound showing that my fluid levels were borderline high. What does that mean? I googled (shouldn't have) and reading about polyhydramnios is just making me really scared as it could signal a problem with the baby...
They are repeating the ultrasound in 2 weeks. My question is, should I call back on Monday and see if they can do the uktrasouns earlier? I just might have an anxiety attack waiting two weeks thinking there is a problem...
Thanks in advance.

Re: Excessive Fluid?

  • I had this with my first pregnancy and gave birth to a healthy son. I have it again with this pregnancy except I'm beyond borderline high. My doctor check my sugar to rule out gestational diabetes. My sugar is fine but I try to keep my diet low carb as possible to minimize the weight gain. My 1st trimester screening was low risk for downs. The doctors don't seem to be concerned, but I am being monitored every two weeks for this and having a low PAPP-A in the first trimester. Since you are only borderline high, I wouldn't stress over it.

  • I had it with #2, she was a healthy newborn and is healthy today. The only problem is that it prevented her from getting down into the birth canal and she flipped when my water broke. That caused her to be breech and an emergency c/s, but it's only a real concern if you have high fluid and baby's growth slows. That means that the influx is due to not eating. Majority of cases of polyhydramnios aren't worrisome.
