Just curious if there's anyone still using the pill for birth control after 40. I have heard its not great to stay on it as you get older but my periods have been so heavy and I have painful crumpling. My OB different have a strong opinion on it, I felt like she could go either way with it, wondering what others have heard/researched.
I am not on anything and am 40, will be 41 in April. I haven't been on the pill in ages and have no desire to go back on it. I just felt like crap when I was taking it. My periods were never horrible and I am pretty regular after having my son so there is no real reason to go back on. Good Luck!!

Thanks for sharing. If this is too personal than don't share but I was wondering what others are using at this age for birth control options.
I am 36 about to be 37. I am recently back on the pill. I have long, painful periods if not on them. But as soon as hubs gets hubs gets "fixed" I plan on going off the pill and just deal with it.

I'm 44 and am taking birth control. I gave birth at a Catholic hospital and they wouldn't do a tubal ligation. Although it took years to get pregnant, I just don't want to chance it again at my age. I take Sprintec.

This is what I am doing. My hubs is getting "fixed" very soon.

Have you heard negative things about being on the pill as you get older ? This is what I am contemplating, whether to just go back on but then I hear its not so great, etc etc.
oh thats good. Did your dr. suggest how long you should stay on it. Its so hard because you can ask 10 drs. and you will get 10 diff answers on whats best.
I'm almost 37 and on the pill as well as we use condoms. (We take no chances) We are still contemplating having a 3rd child so we need temporary birth control until we decide. My dr didn't bat an eye when I said I wanted to go back on the pill. I didn't ask any questions about it though.
