Nose freida and saline drops for runny nose?

Hi ladies, I haven't been on here for while, but I always turn to the Bump for answers :) My LO is 10 mos and is congested with a runny nose for the first time.  I don't have (nor have ever used) a nose frieda and saline drops.  Are these the best recourse?  He's not stuffy, but runny. Thats my question.  It seems like that combo would work for stuffed up but is it the same for runny?  Or any other suggestions for things that have worked for you?  I don't fell like this is Dr visit worthy, prob just teething or allergies. TIA!

The nose Frida is great! I use Xclear drops for my LO.  It has Xylitol which seems to be great at preventing infections and clearing up nasal issues for my LO. The 3oz (large) bulb syringes are great too.  This is what worked for us since LO is too little to understand how to blow his nose.  He didn't like getting his nose sucked but it helped with his sinus issues and was our only option for a runny nose.

  • Absolutely love nose Frieda!! My son is also 10 months and will not sit still for saline drops - mainly the laying down part so they actually get in there. I decided to try something else and totally love boogie mist :) it's the same company that makes boogie wipes! It's much easier to use because I can do it with him standing or sitting and I know the saline got in there. And for some strange reason he holds still, lol! As far as will it work for runny nose - I thjnk so!!! It definitely can't hurt!!!
  • I use nose friday with no drops.

I posted this on another post about my take on the nosefrida. I say I still love it cause it is helps clear our baby nose when he has hardcore colds from germy daycare...."In my opinion, the blue bulb sucker is an evil device and I have used it correctly before I gave up. Someone gifted me a NoseFrida and I am hooked on it! Nosefreda is SO much better and gentler than the bulb sucker on sensitive baby nose. And you can control the suction with a few breathes. I love the fact that you can easily see how much snot you are able to suck out of the nose, effiently and quicker!! Doesn't promise that baby would enjoy it but it will help avoid common nose bleeds from the bulb sucker. NoseFrida is way easier to clean and to air dry oppose to the bulb sucker. Some people are gross out by the NoseFrida (by the way, people who never used one). But think of this...I once stumbled upon a Youtube video where someone cut open a bulb sucker and it had black mold growing inside...SOOOO GROSS!!! The NoseFrida makes so much sense to me in so many ways and hygenic with replaceable filters. When my LO has a bad cold and I use the NoseFrida, he can breathe a little more easier before feeding and before bedtime. A nurse gave me a super helpful tip to ease a baby miserable congestion: 3-5 drops of saline solution in each nostrils, wait a min before sucking out the snot. Believe me it WORKS to loosen the snot easily!!!! Also, it is best to hold down baby arms on his/her sides with your bent legs to avoid hand swipes from baby. This way you can steady the baby's head with one hand while using the NoseFrida with the other. Make sure not to over use any snot sucker device you end up using because baby will wind up with nose bleeds, nasil irratation, or super congestion. One more thing, BoogieWipes is a must...look up the reviews! I also use a cool mist CRANE DROP humidifer in my baby's room and love it!!"
