Labor Induction

I am more than likely going to be induced unless I go into labor on my own in the next 2 weeks which is unlikely. I'm a stm, and went into labor naturally the first time. Has anyone ever been induced? I'm super nervous with all the risks.

Re: Labor Induction

  • I haven't been. I'm a STM. Why are they inducing you? Do you know if they will induce you with pitocin or with breaking your water or something else?

  • I was induced with both of my first two. I am doing everything I can to try and start naturally this time for many reasons. It is not horrible to be induced. For me at my hospital they still let me walk the halls while being induced because they have wireless monitors and my husband pushed the iv cart for me. I also spent a lot of time on a birthing ball. The labor came on very fast and intense once they started the meds. Just be prepared for 0-60! But it is not that bad. Good luck! Just make sure if you want to be mobile while in labor that you make it known and ask to be walking using ball what ever... As much as you can. Otherwise they will be perfectly happy hooking you up and leaving you on bed.
  • I was induced the first time. I actually really liked it because I felt like I had some control over things, lol. It was very calm, which is what I needed because I was freaking out! I went in the night before to start meds for group B, they started petocin in the morning at about 6 or 7am, I had an epidural when I was ready, and my DD was born around 2:30. I wouldn't mind going to 40 weeks so I can be induced again. I will also say though that my sister in law was induced at 42 weeks, and she had really strong contractions right away with the petocin. I have heard other people say the same thing.
