I'm 34 weeks and driving every day 1 hour to work and 1 hour back. The mornings are still fine, but she is moving like crazy from 2 pm and doesn't stop till I'm home. She loves stepping on bladder and make driving challenging... Sitting at desk getting difficult too. So far I asked to stop at 38 weeks, or I'm I pushing it???
Re: When to go in maternity leave?
It was easier being pregnant the first time when I was younger. I worked till 38 wks and my son was born right at 38wks so.. idk everyone is so different
1. Baby may come early and at least everything will be squared away at work- my patients will be transferred to a new doc as of May 11.
2. I'd like to relax a little before baby comes. I imagine I'll be even more uncomfortable than i am now so having time off to rest will be much appreciated. I never take time off. Like ever
3. Last minute stuff to get nursery ready can occur during those two weeks
4. I live near the beach. May is a great time to go and avoid the crowds

This pregnancy I planned to work through the end of April (due May 17 but was a week early with DD), but again complications got in the way and I suddenly found myself on bed rest at the end of March.
Your baby's health and your health are much more important than a few weeks of work, IMO.

I'm a teacher- so at this point I'm looking at (worst case) one unpaid week before summer vacation. Worth it to me to keep baby maturing a bit more!
I would stop anytime now as I work in a kitchen, being busy, standing up and rushing around all day, but money is needed
