Missing Starbucks

Is there anything I drink at Starbucks? Missing it like crazy!

Re: Missing Starbucks

  • You can have up to 200gms of caffeine daily, if you choose. I'm sure most of their drinks can be made decaf or half-caf. Just ask if whatever drink you prefer can be made with less caffeine. I bet they'd have suggestions of a good drink, if your fav can't be made.

  • I know a couple of the fraps don't have caffeine but holy sugar! I remember reading somewhere that pretty much any tall was under the "recommended" amount of caffeine or there's always decaf. I would just go in moderation. Plenty of women keep drinking coffee the whole time.
  • I had a venti iced caramel macchiato a few days ago. It was amazing!

  • I get a tall caramel frap like once a week. Has half of caffeine you can have in a day.
  • I still go :) i just get decaf. Tastes the same to me.
  • I get a grande iced coffee with cream and sweetener once a week and will occasionally have my caramel macchiato.

  • I get a grande iced skinny vanilla latte. It is 150mg of caffeine so that's all I have that day, but it's so worth it! You can also get anything decaf or half caf. If you go on the website you can look up all the info for drinks.

  • I had a vent yesterday. I too miss starbucks, but splurge once in a while... I think this is my second cup of coffee since finding out I was pregnant. The dr told me an occasional cup of coffee won't hurt the baby.
  • I still have coffee regularly. My doctor said a cup per day is fine.
  • You can drink anything/everything at starbucks..dont torture/deprive yourself.
  • I still drink coffee every day. The doctor told me one cup per day is fine. Usually I get 1/2 decaf 1/2 regular, that way I spread it out in case I want another. Most starbucks drinks have 1 or 2 shots of espresso (77 mg caffeine each) and can be made with nonfat milk. The sugar is what you should really worry about.
  • Starbucks is my ultimate guilty pleasure.  lol  I go a couple of times a week but get decaf now unless I really feel like I need the caffeine.

  • I am drinking my Starbucks right now! I have been getting decaf most of the time but today I am having a case of the Monday's so I went with a 1/2 caffeinated drink :)

  • They can make anything half caf... even frappacinos. I do half caf at home in the morning and half caf at starbucks if I want something in the afternoon. That way I spread my 200 mg throughout the day.
  • If you're worried about sugar, you can ask them to make drinks with less syrup, too. Starbucks drinks are a little too sweet for me, anyway, so I actually prefer them with half syrup.
  • I've been drinking the Orange Refresher and Very Berry Refresher.  Nothing like coffee but they do put a bit of caffeine extract in them for a bit of jolt.  I think it's like 45-55 mg for a Grande.

  • I still have coffee...but just one every day.  I get a spit shot, quad, sugar free white mocha, with non fat milk.  Shoot I live in Seattle and there is a coffee stand on every corner.
  • Go to places like dunkin donuts or other coffee places. A coffee at dunkin donuts has 1/2 the caffeine of Starbucks and tastes just as good, at least for me. I know some people just love their Starbucks though. You can Google the amount of caffeine in their drinks.

  • Ive switched to skinny hot chocolate and make do with sniffing the fumes from my buddies coffee! :-/
  • You can also get a short at Starbucks! It's the kid size and they will make any hot drink in it. I get a short mocha or short caramel latte and it hits the spot without loading you up on sugar and caffeine. Also, the milk is good for you! I also like their half-tea, half-lemonade drinks if you like iced things.
  • I love green tea frappacinos! I even tell them to not put in the syrup, no whip and non fat milk. It is such a treat for me!
  • I love coffee frappacinos! Here is how I determine what I can and can't get at Starbucks:

    https://www.caffeineinformer.com/the-complete-guide-to-starbucks-caffeine

It breaks down the caffine amounts in almost everything based on size. You can ask them to use less caffine for certain things. I keep it under 150mg per day, but I know how you feel. Sometimes I just need it.

  • @tate62610 nooo!!! why would they do this to us! and just as summer is approaching :(

  • I KNOW RIGHT?! Now, I have only heard it from a couple employees and I protested both times. Hopefully Starbucks will come to their senses.

  • I'm in love with their green tea lemonade at the moment. Half green tea half lemonade, unsweetened. So refreshing!
  • You can find all the caffeine levels on the starbucks website. I just look up what I want to order and check the caffeine level. You can have up to 200 mg a day so you can have almost everything on the menu at least in a tall.
  • I have been getting a vanilla bean with Carmel, which has no caffeine , this week I did go for the same with caffeine in it and got a major migraine, I was so upset because I was so excited to treat myself to caffeine !! Lol
  • Previous comments about caffeine are right on - Starbucks has more caffeine than any other brand of coffee. If there is another brand you also like, that could be a good compromise to get a treat with a little less caffeine.

Decaf is tricky - most major brand use chemicals to remove caffeine (that's a big part of why decaf usually tastes so bad). Some places, mostly local coffee shops, offer water process or Swiss water decaf, which is a natural decaffeination process. Starbucks only has one water process decaf, the Sumatra, which they rarely brew as drip and do not use for espresso. The decaf starbucks espresso is not water processed.

Most docs say a small amount of caffeine is ok. Caffeine is natural and naturally occurs in coffee. To me, natural caffeine in moderation is better than mystery chemicals to remove caffeine. Just my thought...
  • Starbucks can do all their lattes, iced coffees and fraps decaf!!!! It is heavenly!
