Scraping or induction?!? Help!!!!

I'm so torn on this..... I have heard so many horror stories about both. My due date was the 11th & now I must choose to have my membranes scraped and bring labor on naturally or be induced. What are all you ladies doing? I need some suggestions and input... FTM here!

    Scraping/sweeping only induces if your body is ready for it. Another natural option is breaking your waters, if you're looking to keep it natural. The only problem with that is if it doesn't induce labor, or labor doesn't progress soon enough (there's typically a 24 he window after it's broken), you will more than likely end up on pitocin. I don't think cervidil can be used once the bag of waters is broken, that would be a question for your doctor. As long as your cervix and body is favorable and ready for labor, any form of inducement will end well.

    Well, I'm only 1cm and 70% effaced. Not progressing well at all. -3 station too.

    My friend just got her membranes swept and her water broke the next day while she was sitting at the dinner table. Her baby boy was very healthy and 3 weeks early.
    My 2nd child I was induced with no problems.
    Now, with my 3rd at 38 weeks I'm playing the waiting game.

    You can also try all the NATURAL ways of going into labor.

    Being induced tomorrow. Had my membranes swept with number 2 and 3 and still had to be induced at 38 and 39 weeks due to their size. Today I'm 40 weeks and he didn't even attempt a membrane sweep last Wed just scheduled my induction. Ready to go in and get this little guy out! I don't mind the Pitocin, my inductions have gone well and uneventful plus I get an epidural at 3cm after my water is broke.

    I would just try the lesser of them and progress to the next if it doesn't work, get the membranes stripped and see if it works for you...walk alot and stay hydrated.

    My due date was April 4 and was only dilated to 1. I was joking with my doctor about inducing me and he said he was ok with that. I was so relieved. So I went on March 30, got pitocin around 8:30 and my son was born at 1:54 that afternoon. I'm all for being induced.

    My plan is to have a membrane sweep ON my due date, and then consent to an induction if I get to 41w.

    I had 2 prior 39w inductions for medical reasons and they weren't horrible, but I would definitely opt to have a membrane sweep a few days prior to the induction date to see if I could go on my own.  I was swept at 38w with #2 and while I didn't go into natural labor, I was able to skip the cervix ripening stuff at my induction which made the process shorter.

    I had a sweep on my due date 4-8 at noon and ended up rushing to the hospital just before midnight. My sweet little lady arrived at 4:41am on the 9th! I was 3cm and 50% effaced at my appt.

    I had my membrane swept, at my appointment at 2:00pm, she was born at 4:45am. I was also 5 cm dilated so don't know if that makes a difference!? I say if you want to go natural try going for the sweep first and then if all else fails then you can get induced

    I was also due on the 11th. My doc did the membrane sweep at my 38 and 39 week appointments and nothing. I've been 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced going on 4 weeks now so I feel your pain. I am going walking with my sil this afternoon so hopefully that helps.... I guess we have stubborn babies! Lol

    I'm a FTM and have an apt for 1 on Wednesday to get swept, and schedule to be induced the following week. I've heard multiple things about it. My mom had my brother very fast after she had it done, but also had a friend have to get it done twice (ouch)! I guess it all depends on the person. I haven't had an internal check in weeks so who knows what the situation is up there at this point. Anxiously waiting till wed to see! Good luck!

    Thank you for all the input ladies! I was still at 1cm today and she couldn't do much scraping so I set up to be induced on Thursday. I've been having contractions since I left though so that's good and while I was there. Maybe miss prods will come on her own before Thursday! Lots of walking is in my future for the envy few days and sleep! Good luck to all of y'all.

    Membrane sweep for sure. Then if that doesn't work consider induction. My due date is April 17 and I've had my membrane swept twice already- lost my mucus plug but still no baby!! I really don't want to go overdue as baby was measuring in the 95th percentile at 32 weeks!
