Yes and no for me too. We used protection all but one time and I was sure I wasn't ovulating yet that one time. We were going to wait until October to start trying. I was on the pill when we got knocked up with our first DD. DD2 was actually planned. They call me Fertile Myrtle, we are extremely blessed.
Ours was a surprise, I mean we weren't preventing it from happening either though. We got married in August, in December I decided to start keeping track of my cycles so I could figure out when I ovulate so we could start trying by August (figured by then I'd have a clear enough picture) also because I'm a matron of honor in my friends wedding in August.... Well apparently Im not very good a figuring out my ovulation dates which ironically worked out as we ended up pregnant!
We were trying for #3 for a few months and I knew we got pregnant in February, but the surprise is that we are pregnant with twins! That we were definitely not expecting.
Total surprise here! We got married November 27th, 2014 and were not preventing nor planning to get pregnant. My husband had a dream about a month prior of us having a baby boy and I thought he was crazy because we were so newlywed. Well about a month goes by and I had this nagging thought all week long to take a pregnancy test but felt there was no possible way I could be considering I struggle with vaginismus. Finally Sunday rolled around of that week and I decided to take one while my husband was in the shower and couldn't believe it. I took three more later that day and wal la they were all positive! Guess God truly does have His own timing!
Yup, my husband and I were planning on trying after we took a trip to Italy in September. But now our plans have changed. It's ok though, we've been together as a couple for 9 years and married for 5 of those years this October so we had a nice run of getting to know each other and our marriage before adding another person to it.
Had been trying to get pregnant since my little guy was 15 months old. Had a miscarriage in August & ever since my periods have been extremely messed up. Went to the doctor looking for answers as to why this could be happening & I found I was pregnant . It was a complete surprise as I was super frustrated that my periods were messed up.
Married December 20, I had just gotten off the nuvaring, and was waiting to get back on it (switched health care providers) and yep, sure enough the week after I took it out, we conceived! I was so scared and nervous and actually unhappy about it at first, just since we had just gotten married, but now we can't be any more excited!! A baby is such a blessing and a bundle of joy! Surprise or not hurry up November!
We had been trying for a few months, but we told our parents it was an accident. We are 22 and he already has a son, so we didn't want them to be disappointed in our decision to have another. So we tried secretly and everyone thinks it was an accident. Idc as long as I get a precious little baby to love
Total surprise for us. We were using protection to prevent but God had other plans for us, like many others on this board. This is number 5 for us and we could not be any happier to be pregnant again. It's God's plan not ours. Blessings to everyone on this board.
We definitely did not expect it so soon. We went off BC in January had been told it could take anywhere from 6-12 months to conceive as I had been on BC for 9 years straight. But we conceived 7 weeks in. We have been together for 9 years and always wanted little ones, so we feel incredibly blessed to have it happen so quickly. :x
This was a surprise for us too. We have gone back and forth about having a 3rd but kind of unofficially decided to not. I had to use fertility meds for both my other kids so we were completely shocked when I got that positive test. I had been told it probably wouldn't happen without meds. We are happy though, just still trying to let it sink in!
We had a discussion early February about being happy either way and so it felt weird to me to be preventing it. At that point I had just had a period that was two weeks late, and my husband was going to be out of town for a month starting before I figured I would be ovulating. So, I decided to get off my birth control and have a normal cycle and revisit the topic before my husband came home so I could either start a new pack of BC after AF came, or continue with not preventing. Day one of my husband being gone he asked me if I wanted to start trying when he got home. Little did we know, the ship had already sailed on that one, and we already had a baby cooking!
Ours was a pretty big surpise. We were pretty positive that we were done having kids so when this happened I was shocked. I am pretty spot on with my ovulation, but that month I obviously ovulated earlier than normal and the baby is measuring a couple of days ahead from when my lmp was so that kind of proves that.
We were on cycle 7 of TTC. I'm 35 so I had contacted a fertility specialist after mo 6. A week after my consultation (without taking any drugs, etc) we got the BFP.
Yup!! I had a rough year medically. Doctors said it would be very unlikely I would get pregnant unless I got a period. (Suffered from thyroid issues which lead to adrenal and hormone issues). I assumed until I got a period I could get pregnant.
I had finally come to grips with the twins being our only when I noticed the heartburn. Only had heartburn one other time that bad and it's when I was KU with the twins. Took a test and sure enough!!!
We have been trying for almost 3 years. We were getting ready to start our first round of fertility meds. The day we were suppose to start I took a test because I was feeling off, it came back positive! I couldn't stop crying. So it was a total surprise that it happened before treatment.
Very much surprised! I was on birth control, had been on a serious antibiotic the last week of January for a chest infection....didn't even think about the fact that weakens the effectiveness of bc, welp surprise! It does! I found out when I went in for my usual refill of b/c and they told me I was pregnant, we actually pinpointed the exact day.
Total surprise!! We had tried for years after we had our son, got pregnant once and lost it. We tried again and was told my tubes are blocked so we just have up. It's been 6 YEARS!!! we went through a rough patch last year as well and when we started working on our marriage again, our new life was sealed with this precious surprise God couldn't be more amazing!
I have PCOS and wasn't sure if fertility was going to be a problem or not. After over a year of trying I saw a specialist who gave me Clomid. I was temping, OPKing, and all, and first Clomid cycle BAM! Pregnant. I was more surprised it worked right away on the first try because I had to convince myself id be ok if it didn't work because the chances are that it doesn't.
Biggest and greatest surprise of my life. My husband had a procedure done at the age of 8 that all but guaranteed he would be incapable of having children. The chances were minimal. We found this out together around the age of 19, almost two years into our relationship, thanks to a very informative lecture in my medical terminology class. We married a few years later and I fully expected us to never have children. Dog parents. Maybe adopt some day but never our own. He had been seeing a doctor for some other issues related to the procedure and he said just give it a shot. If we struggled they would discuss other options later. So.. We gave it a shot. One shot to be exact. And 5 weeks later I got my BFP. The look on his face still makes me smile everytime I think about it.
Unexpected honeymoon baby & surprise early ovulation. Wedding was Feb 21, eDD is Nov 26! We had an exciting 2-month-long backpacking honeymoon planned but that's not gonna happen for a while now. Ive wanted to get pregnant for a few years so I'm really happy!
Funny enough, we got pregnant on our first try and really didn't expect to so quickly! So, even though we had decided to try, it was a surprise that it happened on the first try (especially since we haven't used birth control for about 2 years now)!
The same thing happened to us, I was shocked on how quickly I became pregnant! It was the second try but I really wasn't expecting anything till awhile. Friends of ours tried and it took a whole year and one miscarriage, so I was kind of expecting the same thing. So glad we all have our little surprises coming in November!!!
I wasn't using anything to prevent it, but at the same time, I didn't believe that I would be able to conceive, so I wasn't worried about it. After years without using birth control, I now have a little one on the way I couldn't be happier. I'm not married but my boyfriend is the best and we plan to get married soon, and he is just as ecstatic as I am
Early ovulation over here. I was tracking my cycles but apparently, we were just meant to have a 3rd. Amazing how many surprises we have on here. Fun times!
We were the same, decided to try (loosely) as we thought it would take awhile and boom first time we made love after that conversation we're pregnant! Was definately a surprise since I had been off the depo for 3 years.
I lost an ovary and fallopian tube, also had hyperthyroidism. Doctor told me it would be really hard five years not thinking nothing of it and BOOM baby #4 . Still processing after getting my life back. :-S
My last pregnancy with DD was 8 years ago. My DH and I haven't used contraceptives since then. It took 6 months actively trying to conceive DD so I thought our chances were pretty slim to conceive while not actively trying. We've had " accidents" throughout the years without any consequent of pregnancy. So this " accident" turned into a lovely surprise!
I wouldnt say complete surprise lol but was surprised I actually ovulated since I have pcos. then again I drop 60lbs so again not a complete surprise but not totally planned either
Re: Was your little one a surprise?

Super excited and super nervous.
