babysitting and nanny rates

Hi CT moms! I am a FTM and i work from home with periods of heavy domestic travel from coast to coast. I was just wondering, what rates are you seeing for babysitters/nannys? My mom has been a nanny in greenwich for several years and i can't really go off her rates because she is a preferred nanny among a very affluent community. We live in wilton and would just like to know what are reasonable rates for a newborn, infant and tot. Thanks!

Re: babysitting and nanny rates

  • Hi, im a nanny in Wilton, usually around here for one child is 15-17$ an hour, 2 children is 20$, and 3 is 25$. This if mostly for part time, for a full time nanny i dont quite know.

  • @dorela1983 thank you so much for the info! i am expecting in september and may need some help from time to time. i work from home but will need assistance. i wont know my schedule until the baby comes because my mom may be helping as well. do you have any part time nannys that are willing to work flexible times? if they are chinese speaking, that would be ideal, but if not, that is OK too.
  • Hi @allstagg, I live in Greenwich, but am not affluent. Does your mom know of any part-time or full-time nannies in the Greenwich or Stamford area that have prices similar to those in Wilton? I'm due in a month, and I'll be returning to work Aug 1.
  • @bouchaee - I will definitely ask her but Greenwich nanny's tend to be paid a high rate due to the demands of the family. My mom gets paid $25 per hour + bonuses + reimbursement for using her car, but sometimes you can find someone for $20 per hour. Is there a rate you are willing to pay? I can share that with her and see what she can find for you.
  • @allstagg I'm looking for as low cost as possible but, of course, hiring someone who is good at what she does and is trustworthy. Between $15 and $20/hr. is the range that I'd like to look into first. We can change it if no one is available at those rates. Thanks for your help!!
