NTS Scan Scare

Hi everyone, Just hoping that someone may be able to share some advice or a success story. Yesterday I got the results back from my NTS Scan and it says that I have an increased risk of Trismoy 21 - 1:22 and Trismoy 18 - 1:47. Has anyone had similar results and had a positive (or even negative) outcome. I am waiting for the specialist to call me back to discuss what the next option is. I'm 12 weeks. Thanks.

Not sure how far along you are but I got my test done today (nervous) and get results in 2 wks if anything comes out negative the next step for me would be CVS testing...more in depth to get second results. I'm 11wks

  • We had a high NT reading (3.1), but all the blood work was fine. We are still being followed by a high risk OB. We will have a growth scan at 16 weeks and a fetal Echo at 20 weeks.

I hope the specialist can help put your mind at ease. It's very scary! Keep us posted!

  • I also
Had a high scan on one of my twins. We have opted to wait till our anatomy scan and fetal echo which will be in a month to decide on the matern21 test. We only plan to take it then if they see a bunch of other issues. I had a false positive with the matern21 test during my last pregnancy and am also weary of its accuracy with twins. There is a board on babycenter dedicated to nuchal translucency that is pretty reassuring. It seems a lot of women have increased nt and go on to have healthy babies.
  • I haven't had one but I told my doctor about a friend of mine who had a thick neck measurement on her baby and he said he wouldn't put his money on it that the baby had ds. I pray for you everything is ok

  • At my NT scan we got a measurement of 2.4mm, which was considered high risk in the 95th percentile. Instead of getting the NT blood draw, we met with a genetic counselor that day. She explained that my measurement, while it put us at high risk for chromosomal issues, only actually increased our risk by 1-2%. She recommended we either do CVS or a noninvasive/cell-free DNA test. We opted for the cell-free test, which was just a blood sample from me. A little over a week later we found out that our baby tested very low risk for chromosome issues, and we also found out that baby is a boy! I hated the stress of those few weeks and I don't wish it on anyone.

  • A good friend of mine had a false positive for ds. Their boy was born completely happy and healthy not a single sign of an abnormality. If you feel good don't worry about it!
