This is my first baby and I'm not eating all that great. I eat half good and half bad. my partner and I moved in with his parents and I ate good and bad, and ate out way too much . Now we just moved into apt and I have no excuses to eat out anymore ! I have been eating pizza , fries, candy, and etc. I mention to my partner to stop me from eating out except on special occasions and no more pizza lol it's to greasy and upsets my tummy. My question is how do you ladies deal with the food and how to make better healthier choices for you and baby? Any great recipes that are quick and easy? Cravings suck!!!!

Re: Food, food , and more food

  • I'm more of a grazer than a meal eater (which probably isn't a good habit either) but because of that, I just load up on healthy snacks throughout the day. I'll have almonds and an apple or string cheese or those individual packs of carrots on hand. It helps me not to eat too much junk. I'll sometimes have one scoop of ice cream for dessert. Keep snacks in your purse and it will keep you from getting too hungry! The more you eat the healthy stuff, the more your body starts to crave it. But don't get me wrong, I have the strongest pasta craving sometimes! I just make sure to throw some chicken and veggies in there with it to help get some nutrients.

  • Fruit! I have fruit and veggies at the ready. Best way I can get the good stuff down. I started getting those salads with the dressing packet and other goodies too. Quick toss together. I also do PBJ a lot. Packed with protein and hits that sweet tooth perfectly. Stock up on foods you'll eat and don't forget to drink water too.
  • Make your own healthy pizza if that is what you are craving! And yeah I have fruits and veggies readily available. Or handfuls of nuts. I've also craved pasta a lot so I load it full with veggies. I just always attempt to offset. Like for dessert sometimes I'll have fruit with shaved chocolate on top.

This- I more of a grazer too but all healthy foods- on the day I grocery shop before I put anything away I dedicate an hour or so to wash/chop and store tons of fruits and veggies- otherwise I would see something whole in the fridge and wouldn't feel like cutting it up to eat. Rid your house of junk so there are no temptations but if you have a sweet tooth just take a bite of something small, even if its a small piece of chocolate. Your body will adjust to clean eating and crave the healthy foods, it takes some time but if you really stick with it you will not miss the processed/fast food. You'll also feel better and lots more energy!

  • Thankyou everyone . I will have more fruit and veggies on stat as well as peanut butter and jelly. Making a pizza is something to consider and would be fun:-) I guess I need to buy plastic baggies to put carrots in and etc to have it on the go. I do bring bananas with me by I crave meat badly and before I was pregnant, i was more or a semi vegan . Again, thanks ladies for the helpful tips. I'm so glad summer is almost here to where I can go to those fruit and vegetable stands .
  • I have a terrible diet too! I've been disgusted from cooking food smells and pretty much haven't cooked anything for the 22 weeks I've been pregnant. It's really hard not getting nauseated so my poor hubby and I eat out alot which is terrible. But lately, I've been getting alot of fruits l, raw veggies, nuts etc to make up for deficiencies. And I always remember to take my prenatals.
  • My husband bought me a juicer for my birthday. My birthday is not for another 6 months, but he gave it to me today because he wanted me to have it while I was pregnant. I'm really hopping it becomes an amazing tool to get more raw veggies and fruits into me. Not that my diet is all that bad, but more fresh produce can't hurt.
