We are going to tell our parents on Mother's Day, and want to send messages to my brother and his wife who live in NY and my husband's sister and her family who live in TX. Any creative ideas? This is my first and my parents first grandchild!
If you have a sonogram, scan it and send them postcards with the sonogram. Maybe send them edible arrangements. I think they do clever stuff like for delivering news. What about a singing telegram?
I have been contemplating the same thing. I would like to tell my grandmother and other out of town in a more special way than over the phone. So far my only idea is doing something over Skype or Facetime so I can see their reactions.
our family likes to paint rocks (found at michaels) and put them in the garden and on desks or shelves. so we painted Baby Theo coming Nov 2015 on them. we wrapped them up and put a note on the box saying please set up a camera and video tape everyone opening their gifts so we can feel like we're there. (we're doing it so it less obvious lol) or we may Skype and record it. for my little sister who is 7 years old, we wrote a word on each rock. you are going to be an (we painted an ant on the last one) and put it in a sweet box.
we also made onsies saying "grandma and grandpa theo coming nov 2015" and gave them the books...how to baby sit a grandma and how to babysit a grandpa
we're going to put a video of all the reactions together and post it to Fb and I'm taking a sweet picture and posting it Mother's Day saying I'm joining the club
We sent mugs to his mom, siblings and future sil. I had personalized them with grandma, uncle and aunt and their names. They had the instructions not to open them til easter. We then got to Skype with his mom when she opened hers.
I'm glad to read all these great suggestions. My parents live in a different state than me, and part of me wants to wait until we see them in person next month, but part of me really wants to just tell them now, even if it means doing it over the phone. I'm thinking of sending them something fun first, and then having them call me when they open it. I figure, they'll be so excited that they won't care how they found out.

How far along around you? This board is for women due in November.
We are boring, I guess. My husband called our grandpa in Florida last night and just told him that we are expecting a baby girl in November. He was thrilled and wants to fly out for the christening in December. Nothing creative but just as effective. Good luck!
