hCG Levels

Hello all!

I am 5 weeks today! This is my first pregnancy. I had my second round of beta blood work done at 13 days past ovulation and again at 20 days past ovulation.

At 13 dpo, my hCG was very low, it was 48 mlU. Today I got my results from my 20 dpo and it was only 891 mIU.

My doctor's nurse assured me this was "a solid average number." But what I am reading online, it seems to be on the lower end on the spectrum. We have our first OB appoint on the 16th of April, and they said I was not far enough along and cancelled the ultrasound. Now I am nervous!

Has anyone else had their hCG levels checked so far? Any comparisons?

    The number isn't what is important. Your doubling time is. Your numbers are doubling every 39 hours so that is awesome! Typical is 36-72 hours. You are normal!

    Mine was only 54.6 at what I believe to be 11 DPO.  I believe I ovulated later in my cycle.  If mine doubled every 48 hours, I would still only be at 1700 today.  The numbers have to start somewhere.  It all depends on implantation.  Some implant at 7 DPO and some implant on 10 DPO and so forth.  If you implanted later in the cycle or even ovulated a day or two later than you thought, those numbers will be different from someone else.  

    This early they want to see doubling in 48-72 hours.  Those numbers are awesome!

    At 4w4d I was at 899. At 5w4d i was at 11889.

    They think I might have ovulated "later" then 14 days later... So I really might only be 4 weeks... I have struggled with infertlity and PCOS for quite a while, so my doctor thinks I might not be able to pin point ovulation! Either way, I'm just happy that others have had those numbers and I'm moving up! Thank you! :)

    Went to E.R for nonstop cramps at 5 weeks and 6 days... hCG level was at 24,000. No heartbeat. Doctor said either it's too early or threatened miscarriage. And I'm to take another test for hCG level today hoping to see 40,000. Scary when doctors blunt with these terms. I hope this little one sticks around. It's also my first pregnancy. Currently 6 weeks and 1 day.

    Had HCG's taken on the 1st April which was 1210 and then again on the 2nd April which had risen to 1409 when about 4w4d.

    When I saw the doctor, she didn't seem concerned and said they'd risen even though I was persistent in wanting to know if it was a good increase. I've been booked for a scan next week on the 16th (I should be 6w4d) to see if little Sprout is in the right place as I had an ectopic 7 years ago and this is my next pregnancy after that... Obviously very nervous and questioning every cramp I feel. Luckily the cramps have been mild and I haven't had any spotting or bleeding.
    Currently 5w5d.

    Just praying for my sticky baby! :x

    Getting my levels drawn today and Monday, I believe. Unless I get there and they tell me Saturday morning! Sticky babies to us all!

    I'm 5W2d and also had my levels drawn this week due to a previous MS.  On Tuesday it was 333 and Thursday 758.  The nurse was happy that it had doubled.

    I found I was pregnant Wednesday at the hospital (I had a loss in February, haven't had AF yet). They said 4 weeks 6 days at the time based on ultrasound, my hcg was 660.

    My 17dpo was 238 and doc was happy with that so I think you are good. I think a huge part is when u ovulate and when u implant n obviously we are all very different. If your doc has no reason to worry than you shouldn't either.

    At 4 weeks 1 day I was 54. At 5 weeks I was 328 and at 6 weeks 2008. I had 2 day 3 embryos transferred. Completely freaking out because my nurse is just 'it would be better if it was higher'. But everything you read online is all over the place with the range that you can be. So now I'm starting to freak out about blighted ovum? Ectopic? Unknown implantation location. Arrrrgggg. Has anyone else got these low levels?

    mrs.davis, you and I have similar starting numbers. Because of previous issues, I've had mine taken several times and will continue to until my first ultrasound on 4/21:

    3/26: 25
    3/28: 28 (prepared myself for miscarriage, but my dr. said not to give up yet and that I was really early...some babies need time to get moving)
    4/1: 94 (83% 2 day increase)
    4/8: 871 (89% 2 day increase)

    At my last read, I was only 5 weeks 2 days. I go back on the 15th for another draw and am cautious, but hopeful. Hoping things continue to rise for you, too!

    Based on my lmp I should be 7 weeks today, but going off us I'm in the 5-6 week range. Yesterday betas were 2700 and today they were 3200, but both tests were only 13 hours apart...

    I got my hcg levels back from 5 weeks 5 days. Levels are at 2,000 and my doctor scheduled an ultrasound on Tuesday bc she said they were "low"...shame on her for stressing me out since I had a miscarriage in December. Doing research online shows that I am in the normal range, and since I was only tested once why would she worry me ? I wasn't even given the chance to see if the levels are doubling. Shame on her *rant over.

    @rookietwo I had my HCG results this week and took them a day apart. At about 36-37 post LMP (4w3d/4w4d) I was 1210 and then the day after 1409. The doctor didn't seem concerned and said that they are rising, plus once the levels get to 1200+ they can take between 72-96 hours to double.
    Mine are probably doubling every 4 days but have an early scan next week when I should be 6w4d as I had a past ectopic.

    You can't possible know anything from one draw as it is necessarily just about the numbers but more importantly how they rise. Plenty of women have had low HCG levels and had perfectly healthy pregnancies.

    @angelinalambert thank you for your reply ! I am feeling much better after hearing this response multiple times and reading up online.. I was just frustrated that my doc would even sound concerned and cause me to worry. I will keep everyone updated on my ultrasound on Tuesday. Hoping to see a strong heartbeat as I will be 6 weeks 5 days then !
