Does anyone use a doppler? If so what kind did you get and do you need to get gel with it? Im thinking about getting one but im not sure what to get thanks!
I have a Sonoline B and, yes, I use gel with it. I'm very happy with it. I used it with my daughter, then my SIL borrowed it, and now being used with this pregnancy and it still works great. The peace of mind is totally worth the $50!

I just got mine yesterday. It's difficult to get the hang of it, but awesome you get to hear the HB. I have the Sonoline B model and it's easy to use. It came with some gel, but you can buy more or use aloe gel. Watch a few videos on how to use it first and be patient. I got maybe 15-20 seconds and then moved a little too much and lost the sound. Worth it!
I love my Sonoline B - also, I just use aloe gel with it and it works great. I was able to find the heartbeat at 9w5d and have never had trouble finding it since. I know a lot of OBs discourage them because they think dopplers will bring more stress than anything, but it has just been a huge source of reassurance for me between ultrasounds.
I have the sonoline b. I orderd it from Groupon. It took a bit longer to ship than I would have like but it was brand new and came with batteries and gel. I highly recommend it!
I just bought one on ebay - its suppose to be here today. If you find one on amazon, buy it. They don't last long. I waited a day to decide if the model I looked at was what I wanted and it sold out.
I also use the sonoline b and love it found the heartbeat at 9 weeks. I just use aloe Vera gel with it and it works great! It's been great at providing peace of mind in these early days
I bought mine on eBay. It is used and it works great. I use aloe Vera gel with mine. Once you get the hang of it, the heart beat is so easy to find! And brings so much peace of mind!
I purchased the Sonoline B from fetaldoppler.net (full link in a post above already) for about $45 and it came with a small tube of ultrasound gel and batteries. I LOVE it!! It just came in this week so I got to use it for the first time on Tuesday (11w3d). I was SUPER nervous as heck to use it...afraid I wouldn't find the HB and it would send me into a panic. It does take some time getting used to and I do have to be patient....but worth every second once the HB does come up! I can usually find the HB pretty quickly at first...but getting it to come in loud enough for the doppler to pick up the actual heart rate can be difficult - this is where the patience has to come in. If it is on the quieter side...even though you can hear it no problem..the doppler wont give you the actual rate...it took me quite some time to get the heart beat rate on the screen to match the actual HB rate even though I could hear it. The louder it projected (the closer I got to the right spot) then the more accurate the reading on the doppler became. I think my baby likes to hang out farther back and will only sit still for about 30 seconds...after that I loose the HB even though I dont move at all...it's the baby shifting. But if I am patient enough and take my time I can re-pick up the HB and eventually find the "perfect" spot for it to be loud enough to get the actual heart beat rate to come up on the doppler screen. There are some good videos out there to watch to give you tips on how to use it.
I have a Sonoline B Pocket Doppler. It is awesome and i LOVE it. You do need some type of "gel" with it. you can either buy the ultrasound gel or you can use all vera gel. i have used both and they both work great!
I got mine on eBay for 39.44 it came with gel, batteries, and free shipping here is a link. I got this in 2 days. one day before estimated delivery. new.
