Do you ever have a feeling?

Do you ever have a feeling that something is wrong but for no reason? I just feel that way today. I've called the doctor and I have no signs and symptoms indicating trouble to they told me to just wait for my 5/5 anatomy scan. I've had A LOT of anxiety since getting pregnant about the potential of things going wrong with baby and today I just can't seem to shake the feeling that something is bad. I haven't felt baby yet at 17 weeks and am just so desperate for some sign that things are going well. Am I alone in this? Any insight from you ladies?

Im sorry you feel that way. I've had a similar experience due to so many MC's. The thing that had worked best for me so far is just making a mental list of all the reasons I have to NOT worry (and repeating it as often as needed), like good heartbeat, in second trimester, normal growth, no cramps/bleeding, etc etc. I also remind myself that society gives gut feelings a lot of credit, but scientifically/statistically speaking, gut feelings mean nothing. This always makes me feel better.

  • I've had days like that ... most days I'm fine and have no worries, but there's days the worry just creeps in. I think it's only natural! The thing that's helped me is renting a heartbeat Doppler ... it was only $17/month and on those days where I feel that worry for no reason, I break out the Doppler, hear the heartbeat, and instantly feel better! I've only used it once or twice a week tops for a few minutes each time since my 16 week appointment, but it's definitely helped me get through the 4-week gap in between appointments! I rented mine from babybeat.com and got the BabyBeat Recorder Fetal Doppler: www.babybeat.com/babybeat-recorder-doppler-bb150a.html. I did the 6-month prepaid and there's a special going on now for 15% off rentals. Hope that helps!

Many women will typically feel baby between 18-22 weeks, but everyone's different. I felt mine moving just before I was 18 weeks so I wouldn't worry about that.

I agree with PP with the list and I personally find ways to keep my mind distracted from thinking such things. I read, draw, play with my puppy, go workout, and the like. I have a habit of thinking negative things so for me keeping my mind occupied is what I need to do.

  • I'm at 19 weeks and haven't felt movement. At my ultrasound today, I was told when you feel it depends on the baby's position and the location of the placenta. They said by 24 weeks is when you should start feeling it, so I'm not worrying if they aren't. Happy thoughts!
  • I have days like this too! I think it's natural at this stage because symptoms are fading (hopefully) and it is quite a long time between appointments. I read someone else on this board write that our body has ways (physical, not mental) of letting us know when something is wrong ie: bleeding, cramping etc. Just try to remind yourself that feeling nothing means your body is just doing what it's supposed to! Soon enough we will feel baby all the time, and appts will be constant... and we will probably be wishing for this peaceful lull back lol!
