No Sleeping Through the Night

My 15 week old won't sleep longer than two hour intervals at night. Any suggestions? She usually goes down around 8pm then wakes to eat at 11pm, 2am, 4am and 6am. I usually do a diaper change around the 2 am feeding and our room is pitch black with a fan on. I don't rock her when she wakes, just feed her and lay her back down.

My pedi said to try and drop a feed, start with the 2am....give her less ounces at each feed and eventually she will stop waking for it. Start with dropping that one. Once she drops that, work on the 4am doing the same method. So for example if she eats 5 oz, drop it to 3 oz, then to 1oz., etc. Another method I just read about it to back it up by 15 min for 3 nights, and then another 15 the nrxt 3 nights. So, feed her at 2;15 for 3 nights then 2:30 for 3 nights, etc. and eventually the 2 and the 4am should merge to 1 feed and then you can work on dropping that one feed. Hope that helps!

  • Feel ur pain my lo same but they say at around 4/5months they go thru a phase of waking thru night hopefully it doesnt last long xx
  • Babywise book helped me get my infant sleeping through the night at 14 weeks. He wakes up early every now and then - sometimes they're going through growth spurts that last a week. Other times they're just crying in their sleep and don't need to eat. Give them ten minutes and if they don't resettle, then feed. I also agree with PP about encouraging dropping feeds. I exclusively BF, and started rice cereal once a day in the morning - helps with his reflux for the whole day. He's 20 weeks now, and on average, since week 14, he sleeps from 8/9pm to 7/8am. Good luck!!
  • Your baby is probably going trough 4 months sleep regression
  • Seriously, anything baby wise should be burned. Don't listen to that crap. It boarders on child abuse. Yup, I said it. Our babies are still little. They are going to wake up. Is it frustrating? Hell yes. I have personally not slept in a week and my N14 baby had always been a terrible sleeper. At about 4 months, our babies start sleeping more like we do with intervals of light and deep sleep. Its a sleep regression. You need to keep doing what works and look up ways of sleep training that you and your family are comfortable with. Most start at 6 months so you have to survive a bit more. Good luck!
