BOY OR GIRL NUB/SKULL THEORY PLEASE HELP

    Which is not necessarily a bad thing. After all, displaying your baby's genitals on an open website that anyone can see is generally not advisable.

    Sex specific skull features do not appear until puberty-- even then, the skull (in and of itself) is not a reliable sex indicator. This theory has been debunked. I'm not quite sure why this is not more common knowledge. :-??

    I don't understand why people are so desperate to find out the sex. Why is it so horrifying to wait for the anatomy scan? Patience is a virtue.

    But if you're really that desperate you can pay for (likely out of pocket unless you are high risk) one of the new genetic blood tests that can tell you the sex. These are typically done around 10 weeks and give you actual useful information as well as the sex, with far more accuracy than an early ultrasound. They just cost money.

    So would you rather wait an extra 10 weeks and NOT pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket, or pay a bunch of money to find out a little earlier? Your choice OP. But no one on here can tell from looking at an ultrasound what a professional ultrasound tech and doctor cannot. You need to wait until the anatomy scan for reliable ultrasound results.

    Do not advocate for this. This is not the purpose of the test, and the more people who use the test = more test results to be read = the longer wait times to get results for women who actually need these tests.

    What? My insurance covered it. Insurance doesn't really work like that, like one person gets coverage so someone else gets rejected? My insurance covers that test for all women who want it.

    What? My insurance covered it. Insurance doesn't really work like that, like one person gets coverage so someone else gets rejected? My insurance covers that test for all women who want it.
    OMG where is Bliss+Berry or GhostMonkey when you need them? 

    Insurance has nothing to do with my comment. There are a finite number of people who process the tests, read the results and prepare the reports. An influx of women using them to find out if they are having a boy or a girl increases the volume of tests to be processed. Ergo, the women who are using the tests as they are meant to be used (ie, to find out if their fetus has a genetic abnormality) are not getting results in a timely manner. 



    Well you know thats how capitalism works. If enough women request, they hire more people, supply and demand. My understanding from my doctors was that these tests were becoming more and more standard and that there is a standard wait time. While I understand the logic there, I got no impression from anyone that there was some giant backlog and I should expect results to come in later. My doctor was very supportive. I certainly feel for any woman waiting on results but I'm pretty sure my walking in isn't going to significantly prolong their pain/worry.

    And your post said I was eating up resources...how was I supposed to know what you meant? Hardly an OMG moment.
