Secondary IF

Seriously emotional after IVF - Does anyone else feel this way?

AF came yesterday following my second IVF cycle. A couple days before and still now, I feel totally off my rocker. I am emotional, crying all the time, and generally feel totally out of whack. No dangerous thoughts or anything like that. Just not thinking clearly and very, very hormonal. This happened during my period after my first IVF cycle too, so it's definitely a trend.

I felt completely fine during my IVF cycles even while I was shooting myself up two times a day with max doses of everything. Several of my other friends who have gone through IVF said they felt unhinged during the medication process, but not me. Apparently it hits me after.

Does anyone feel this way? I am still under a lot of stress since my IF journey is far from over but I really think this is more than that. Thank you for listening.

  • I don't think I was more emotionally volatile than usual after my failed IVF, but I was definitely emotionally exhausted--just done in.  There was no way I could just jump back into the next cycle. I do remember being short tempered and irritable, but it's hard to separate the hormones from the disappointment of the whole thing.  Plus, I was at my in-laws. :)

  • @Davie813, being at my in-laws right now would definitely do me in! Thankfully, my second cycle was more successful than the first and created two blasts that were biopsied. We are keeping those on ice while I do a third cycle in late May/early June to hopefully batch more blasts and then do the testing at that point.

The lab we use, Natera, charges the same for 1 or for 8 biopsies so we've maximizing the value of the cost by trying to batch them together.

Very nice.  Having the blasts on ice already must take a lot of the pressure off!
