I am 35 weeks, 36 weeks this Saturday. I just wanted to know if anyone has taken Epo with previous pregnancies and how much did you take. Or is anyone starting it now and how much do you take.
I haven't taken it before or started this time yet but I plan to. I was told be a midwife friend that you can get epo suppositories and that you can start using them at 36 weeks.
I heard it isint good during pregnancy at any point... Known to cause complications. But I'm also an internet lurker.. So my sources could be wrong. Ask your doctor first
I started at 34 weeks with 500mg and then 1000mg at 35 weeks and at my 36 week checkup yesterday I am 2cm and 50-60% effaced. Not sure if it's the EPO but I was happy to know my body is progressing. This is all orally by the way I haven't inserted any.
You can find something on the Internet that says every natural remedy may cause complications because they're not fda approved. All epo does is help to soften your cervix. A midwife isn't going to recommend something that will harm you or your baby. I guess if you were to start taking it too early it could cause ploblems, that's why it is recommended for after 36 weeks.
My MW said I can start taking them @ 36weeks, 3x a day. I have an appointment Monday and am going to double check, but I am PRETTY SURE that is what she said lol. We are trying to avoid being induced, and she said its a 50/50 chance it will help, or do nothing.
Epo has never done anything for me so I'm not going to bother this time. It always created a false sense of hope and then I'd get checked and find that it had done nothing.
With my last pregnancy I started at 36 weeks inserting one gelcap vaginally every night. I still went over to 41-3! I may start sooner (at 34 weeks today) and up the dose the closer I get.
