Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Baby care classes?

Hi moms!
We're expecting our first and wondering if we should take a baby care class in the next month. We'll definitely take infant CPR, but is there anything else that's a must? (I'm already planning to line up a lactation consultant if we don't do well on that front.)  Would love to hear what you would recommend, now that you're on the "other side."
Thanks a lot.

Re: Baby care classes?

  • If it makes you feel more comfortable, you should go ahead and do it. I knew nothing (seriously, nothing) about babies, and took an infant care class. Honestly, I didn't really learn that much. The nurses in the hospital were an immense help - they answered any questions we had and showed us how to care for our baby. I also took a breastfeeding class (somewhat helpful), and a labor & delivery class. The L&D class was SO worth it for me - really calmed the fears I had about delivery.

Hope you have some wonderful nurses! Good luck!!
