Big ball of nerves.

I have an almost 5 year old son. I was an avid poster on The Bump when I was pregnant with my first born. So far, I post here and there during this pregnancy and read a lot of posts from you guys. That's kind of beside the point, just kind of an intro into how much I appreciate The Bump and the ability to come on here and vent about stuff that no one else really understands right now. Anyway, at 35 weeks with my first pregnancy I was induced because of my blood pressure. It's looking like that might be the story with this one as well because my blood pressure isn't cooperating. I think with the first one I was sort of prepared. I don't remember being this nervous. I've been through this before, but I feel like I'm going in blind and have no friggin' clue what to expect, I don't even know if I have the ability to be the parent to an infant again! It's like this is my first child ALL OVER. I'm so beyond nervous, and my DH is a first time parent so he isn't much help.
Anyone else doing this a second time and also freaking out?! Isn't is so strange to be nervous about something we've done before?!

  • Second child terrifies me! How can I split with a needy infant and a three year old. But I believe I will just figure it out like I did with the first.

  • My boyfriend is a first time daddy. He is somewhat immature and doesn't understand the complicated life of a father and the responsibilities of a parent. He sees the clothes and diapers and nursery and assumes everything is done and prepared for her. But he doesn't understand........... I have two daughters ages 10&11 from a previous relationship so this isn't my first ball game. I am stressing that I will not get the help I need from him and I know I will be her main caregiver. I hope both of our babies father's learn fast and help us with the long nights and early mornings ahead of us. But as any parent knows infants and toddlers are hard to care for but the time and efforts are well worth it. =)
  • Yes! I have a 12 month old and I feel like I already forgot how to take care of a new born! I'm oddly excited for labor and delivery. Probably bc I just want it to be over and I'm so excited to not be pregnant. And excited to meet the new baby if course!
It's impossible to not think about it all the time!

  • I think my biggest fear has been how in the world does a heart hold love for two kids?! I mean, I know it will, but my worry is okay, I have ALL This love for my son, that will now be DIVIDED. Realistically I know that's so stupid.. My DH is actually probably more excited than I am. I am EXCITED, but more nervous. He is more excited than nervous. I'm losing it. We're set to be induced in FIVE days and I'm losing mind.

  • I'm more nervous this time around time too. Dd just turned 2. I'm more nervous for labor and delivery this time around. I'm also worried how she will adjust to me splitting my time with her and a sibling. Normal STM worries I suppose.

  • I'm pretty overwhelmed because the baby stuff was just not my forte. My husband and I have been giving each other pep talks which helps. You know like "we got this" and "it's gonna be fine". I'm thinking of it like going into the super bowl and pumping myself up. Btw I don't even watch sports but for some reason this is working for me. Go figure....
  • Yes I agree with the above posts. My daughter will turn 5 on April 28th and I'm due on may 3rd. I am so scared on how she is going to react when it comes to sharing her mommy. It's hard to think about so I try not to. I know it will all work out but I'm still nervous.
