so confused...damn hormonal dreams...

Well we decided on Liam Alexander, but the past few nights I've had dreams of naming him after my husband.. My hubs is Donald. I don't honestly like the name Donald, but I told my dh that if it would make him happy we can name him Donald Alexander instead but call him Donnie to make it cuter. My dh is already a Jr, with a horrible middle name (Bernard lol) so def would not do a 3rd. So is this compromise just as good? Or should I have kept my mouth shut lol... It's our last baby and I don't wanna feel guilty that he never got to have a son named after him.

  • My boyfriend and your husband both have in our opinions horrible middle names. My boyfriend's is warren... Really what was his mom thinking. Well anyways he's a Jr as well and told me no way in hell is our son going to be a "the third" I always tease saying yes!!! He's going to be a third! He hates it. I really have no advice other than I like the name u picked better. It just flows nicely.

  • Oh and I love Alexander as a middle name. Unfortunately my boyfriend doesn't agree. So sux for me. I picked the first I'll let him pick the middle.
  • I never understood why men name children after them. I wouldn't name my girl my name...

My dad's name is Donald ( he passed away) he would correct ppl when they called him Donnie. Lol
  • I love the name you picked. To make you laugh.... My grandfather who practically raised me his name is Donald Dudley and no that is not a joke :) they used to call him "Dud" I love him so much and would love to give my son part of his name but I cannot.........
  • I gave my husband the open door to let the kid (if it turns out to be a boy) a jr. (he's Christopher Eric) but he immediately said no. He'd rather give Hypothetical Son his grandfather's first name: Kenneth. Not something I would normally have gravitated towards, but I actually do like it. It's strong, classic and not over used.

One Jewish tradition (not everyone follows it, and like Christianity, different denominations have their own tradition), you use the first two letters of the deceased person's name who you are trying to honor. So that could expand your choices to any name that starts with Do- or Du-.

Not sure if that really helps, but it helped me think of a girl name that honors my beloved grandfather.
