We set a date to be induced!

I was diagnosed with GD several weeks ago, so my doctor mentioned inducing early since sometimes GD babies can grow large.

I've been going to appointments twice per week for my diabetes clinic and also for NST and monitoring contractions.
I've asked for 3 weeks now what date they would like to induce because I need to let my family know when to book their flight. My doctor refused to give me a date, but today I was given a new doctor.

I asked again today of course and they gave me May 4th!!! I set a time on Monday, so I'm very excited. My original due date is May 18th, so they are inducing me at 38 weeks.

I've done research on being induced, but does anyone have any stories they would like to share with me?

    GD doesn't mean an automatic induction, and unless your dr feels it is 100% necessary, I would advise against it. That's probably why he wouldn't give you a date yet. What proof do you have that you need an induction?
    I was induced for gestational hypertension and it was awful.

    My doctor told me a while back that they wanted to induce due to the increased chances of stillbirth the closer to term GD mother's get. They also have based it on me taking medication to help control my GD.

    The reason he didn't schedule it before is because he wanted to see how the diet was going to work first. When it didn't work for me then on medication it was. I was told that the medication ages the placenta faster, so...I trust in my doctors decision to induce.

    I think it's your decision to be induced. I was induced at 38 weeks with my First and yes I did end up with a c section but not because I was induced.

    I was induced with my first two. They broke my water and I was given pictosin to help speed everything along. I'm sorry that I have nothing to compare it to, but make sure you do your research before you agree to do it. I was so young when I had my first two and just thought it was a normal thing. Looking back, I might've changed my mind. Who knows at this point though. I know it's exciting to KNOW when baby is coming, but make sure you're comfortable and have all the facts first :)

    I was induced with my first and it went very well doing the same this time if baby hasn't arrived by May 7.

    I was induced with my first due to high blood pressure. It was a very slow process. I'm doing everything in my power to avoid it this time around.
