Thoughts on a "Thank you" for a work shower?

I had a surprise shower last week at work and I want to say thank you to everyone that planned and contributed to the gifts. I was planning to send thank you notes to everyone that planned the shower (I was given the heads up on who did what after the surprise) and then a breakfast for everyone else who contributed. If I were to write a "thank you" note to each individual person, I would be looking at 50+ cards. Do you think that a personal thank you note for those who helped plan and then a bagel breakfast in the faculty room is an okay way of saying, "thank you?"

  • I think this is a wonderful idea! If I'm blessed with a shower at work I'll be borrowing your idea. ;)

  • I would love to be one of your co workers for that bagel breakfast! I think any kind of thank you is always a nice gesture .
  • I think that's a great idea. And I think an email thank you to those that contributed is totally acceptable too. That's what people in my office typically do.
  • Thanks everyone. I think I just want to make sure that they know it's appreciated. When I was in a different building a few years ago, there wasn't a single acknowledgement that I was getting married nor was there acknowledgement that my grandmother had passed away the previous year, so I wasn't expecting anything at all. I was completely taken off guard last week, to the point that I burst into tears when I realized......then burst into tears again when I realized how much they had spent on me and my family.

  • That sounds like a nice idea. My office had a little shower /luncheon for me and I ended up writing a company wide quick thank you email and brought in treats the next day. I also hand wrote a card to my direct supervisor and colleagues that organized it (about 5)

I ended up writing individual thank yous for all who contributed to group gift. It was almost 50 thank yous, but it only took me an hour or two.
  • Very classy!

I just did an email to all those who contributed that was full of funny pregnant woman gifs and memes and stuff. Everyone thought it was really funny. Then I did bagels & donuts for the whole office.
  • Is it ok, just to do thank you cards for everyone that bought a gift and attended work shower, and then a small gift (monogrammed notepads for those who helped plan the shower, hostess)?
  • I did a breakfast to all who were at work the next day after my work shower, and also am planning on writing individual thank you notes. Everyone loved the fact I brought them a whole spread of bagels, scones, muffins, fruit, juice and such! We work in a hospital and we ALWAYS welcome free food :)
  • I did a group thank you email to my group of 12 coworkers and brought in Easter candy. This is a terrible excuse, but if I had written individual thank yous, no one would have ever been thanked despite my best intentions.
