Is anyone else's Obgyn requiring weekly stress tests? Just in case your ob calls it something else--It's just where the doctor monitors the heartbeat and how many times the baby moves in a 30 minute time frame...any idea why?
I think that it what they r having me do starting next week. I'll be 34 weeks. They called it something else I don't remember but said due to my age (43) they want to monitor heartbeat reactions fluid and placenta.
I think they are starting me in these In two weeks at 36 weeks and do them every week. NST, or those letters in some order. She said they would monitor baby for heartrate and me for contractions. I'm an older FTM momma, 46 on May 13.
I'm 26 and I'm having to start nonstress tests next week because I've had bp issues and she is measuring small. They are also doing biophysical profiles which is an ultra sound weekly that monitors activity, breathing, and heart rate. The doc said they are doing mine to make sure she is still functioning well. A decline or abnormal result can mean my placenta is just not giving her what she needs and that she needs to come on out. But is she is doing good we can stay in there until 39 weeks. Hope this helps. Your doc may be doing them for different reasons than mine but from what I understand it's to make sure the baby is still moving and dthe heart rate doesn't go haywire with either a contraction or movement. This is the best way to determine that the womb is still there safest place for the baby!
I've been doing them weekly since 30 weeks because I have high blood pressure. From what I understand NSTs help to see if the baby is under any stress when you have contractions (if you are having any) and making sure that their heart rate goes up with movement and that the baby is moving enough.
I'm doing them weekly. Just had my first today. I have to have them due to blood pressure issues. I'm 34 weeks. It went well today, aside from her not cooperating.
I go to my doctors twice a week. Both days they do a non stress test. The first time I go each week they do a biophysical profile to check on everything and the second time I go they don't unless the NST results come up nonreactive. I started at 29 weeks for my type 1 diabetes.
I'm a June 2015 momma who will now either be a late April/early May momma thanks to oligohydramnios, or really low amniotic fluid. Ive been in the hospital since 3/23 and am 32w1d today. I do daily BPPs (biophysical profile ultrasound) and twice daily NSTs. According to my high risk doctors, they should see signs of distress on the NST before it reaches a critical level - so we could catch it early if baby isn't tolerating her low fluid.
I am 37+3 and am being induced tomorrow....ahhhh. My blood pressure has been slowly creeping upward toward the end of my pregnancy and I was diagnosed with GD around 27 weeks. They did the first NST last week and although baby was responding to movement and had a strong heart beat they didn't feel she was responding for a long enough period of time. My Dr was very informative and explained to me that when they compare heart rate vs. movement they like to see the heart rate increase by ~15 beats/min for ~15 seconds. My LO heart rate would spike with movement but didn't remain there for a long. I, too, was sent for a biophysical u/s that same day and had to be done twice. For the first one (30 minutes) it showed good fluid, heartbeat and breathing but she just would not move. My Dr suggested I go eat something and they wanted to do the test again, this time around she did everything she needed to. With the combination of increasing BP, GD, and the less reactive NST results, my Dr decided it would be best to just get her out here with us to take better care of her. This is my first pregnancy so I'm really starting to feel very anxious the closer the time approaches. Thoughts, advice, encouragement and prayers are all welcome!! I love having this community to interact with!!
