VBAC

Any Mama's out there ever done VBAC? Anyone trying it this time? I had a c-section with my first and really want to deliver naturally this time. Looking for tips or stories. I am nervous and hoping my midwife will let me try. I do not see her until June 1st.

Re: VBAC

  • Don't have any experience but I think that's great and more power to you! Best of luck!

  • i do not have experience either but my dr says as long as you have the right doctor all is fine, he does them often and feels comfortable with doing them. good luck to you!! I think its a great idea!
  • Same position as you! I want to naturally as well but everything iv heard or read lately hasn't been good. It has been about the dr pushing you into induced labor or not giving enough time to push and getting the epidural "just in case" which is hindering you pushing.
  • I am hoping with having a midwife i will have a different experience. I loved my midwife with my first (im seeing her again) she let me go to 42 weeks, but i ended up getting induced...after 3 days i ended up with an emergency csection. i never felt rushed or pushed into something i didnt like.

Are you going with a dr. Or midwife?

  • I'm hoping to have a VBAC this time around.  I was at a birthing center with my first and after being in labor for two days I ended up transferring to the hospital and having a c section.  DD was in a funny position and had managed to kind of get herself stuck.  I'm hoping to go natural this time.

I had an induced VBAC with my loss. Was WAY easier, physically, recovery wise. Wish I could have done all my births that way but others were cesareans. Took some time for me to come to terms with my second cesarean after I knew I was going to have a planned cesarean due to his size, but once I saw him, heard him cry... the birth method really didn't matter anymore. My point is if you can, safely, get a VBAC that is fantastic and will be much easier than a repeat cesarean, BUT if you can't that is okay too :) Try not to get wrapped up in the birth and forget the baby is the most important part, like I did. It sets you up for an emotional roller coaster.

  • I am debating between trying for a vbac or just doing a c-section again. I really wanted a natural birth the first time but after 35 hours I was still only at 5 centimeters so I had a non emergency csection. I just knew I was too tired to push even if I did some how make it to 10 centimeters and the doctors kept "reminding" me it is better to do the c section before it becomes an emergency. The dr said my son was sunny side up and was just too big to come down (not really sure if I believe her, she might of been trying to make be feel better about the c-section). Before all that, I was also induced then sent home 2 days later still pregnant when the drugs did nothing to start labor. I went in to labor naturally 13 days later.

Short version... my first labor went really poorly. I don't know if is worth going thru all that again when I think there is a good chance I will just have another c section.

  • Thanks ladies. I had a big boy and sunny side up. I pushed for almost 5 hours before they stopped me..it was truly exhausting. I was happy to have him out and crying! Really trying to be healthy and walk so i dont have another 10 pounder lol I'm pretty sure that's why he was so stuck!

  • I had a dr with my first and will with this pregnancy as well. We've moved around a lot so I haven't met this dr yet but I'm really hoping she will be pro vbac. My first c section was bc my son was breech.
  • My cousin just had a successful vbac after having a c section with her first daughter 5 years prior:) she was induced with her first and water broke on her own with her second so she is thinking her body wasn't ready first time around. I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy
