False Labor

I went to the hospital yesterday with contractions that were 5 minutes apart for like 2 hours. When I got to the hospital and got all hooked up they stopped...ugh! I think what us most upsetting to me is that I am not dilated or anything! 36 weeks and still a closed cervix! I thought I would at least see some sort of progress. I'm really bummed out. I feel like this means I'm gonna go to my due date or over due which scares me because he is already measuring way big.

36 weeks is still way early for any dilation. Not to mention that dilation really means nothing- some women walk around for weeks at 3cm and still need to be induced. Unfortunately most FTMs go over their due date so I wouldn't get my hopes up of going early. I'm not saying this to be snarky, I'm saying it as someone who went 2 weeks over her due date and was seriously bummed out and frustrated about it.

Try to relax these last few weeks and remember that a baby measuring big can be off and that it's still completely possible to birth a big baby. The last month can suck, but a big baby is better than an early baby! Hang in there mama!!

I guess that's true. I just got discouraged because I have a friend who is having her baby right now and is 34 weeks....seriously?! I then I get my hopes up and it nothing. The only thing is I'm a STM so I thought I would have him earlier than my first who was born 1 day before her due date. She was 9lbs 5 oz and I hemmoraged and nearly died. I was so hoping to go early as not to risk this again, so now I'm a ball of worry.

Don't feel bummed! Everyone has lots of different struggles. I'm a sTM who can't quit going into labour! Baby will come when it's ready just get to walking and stay focused on the positive outcome which means a happy healthy baby will be here before you know it and all this discouragement you will have forgotten! Hand in there you'll be fine! Keep your head up!

With Baby1 I was dilated at 2cm from 35weeks until 37w4d when my water broke. It was still 12 hours until I was 10 cm and ready to push at 37w5d.

With baby2 I was dilated at 3cm from 34weeks until 37w5d when my water broke. It took 6 hours to get to 10cm and ready to push.

With this one (#3) I'm 35w4d today and last I heard, not dilated at all. They're checking again today at my appointment. (I'm 100% effaced though? Whatever.

)

I'm not too concerned, honestly. I know so many women who went from 0-10 cm in the span of 24 hours and a few who stalled at 7 or 8 cm and had to have c-sections. Everyone and every baby is different.

I've been there with the contractions. I've been having them for WEEKS and they top out at 5 per hour and are never regular. It wakes me up at night and i'm just uncomfortable and sore from contracting all day long. This happened with my 2nd too - I got sent home from L&D 5 separate times before it was the real deal. (my OB would send me, they'd keep me for 4-6 hours, and I'd go home again.) I felt like such a fraud at times - but at the same time, I wanted to be at hospital in case things progressed quickly or something went wrong. I learned to trust in what my OB was telling me to do and tried to let everyone around me do their jobs.

So much can happen in a week. Another week or 2 of cooking would probably be good for the baby. I'm 34 weeks and so wanting to be done so I can imagine the frustration.
Start pumping in that red raspberry green leaf tea, take lots of walks and hopefully you will go early.
@a316b let me know if you are at al dilated at your appt today. I'm curious!

@a316b I Feel You On The Fraud thing. My husband called everyone even though I told him to chill...I didn't even want to bring the bags but he wanted to bring everything. I know he was just excited but it made it harder on me to un tell everyone. My bestie posted it on facebook. Ugh! I'm like damnit!!! So it was embarrassing to say the least.
@mhilpisch10 Does The Tea work? I will go get some today!!! Is it at a health food store?

Don't try too hard to go early! The longer the baby stays in, the better it is for him/her. Yeah, we're all feing huge and miserable but it's just a little longer. Hang in there!

And don't feel bad about a false alarm - I think I went in three times before the real deal last time around. Better safe than sorry!

Last pregnant as soon as I hit 37 weeks I started having a couple glasses a day. The day before I went into labor hubby and I had sex, I had a couple cups of the tea, took a good walk and worked an 8.5 hour day. My water broke that night, and Little guy came the next morning!
Some women it does nothing for, but I swear by it haha. My cousin jokes as soon as she hits 37 weeks she locks Her husband in the bedroom lol

I guess I'm confused why anyone would want their baby born early?? Especially 4 weeks...

@MrsLawson15 - doc says lots of pressure and head very low but not dilated. My amniotic fluid was a little lower at 9, but they weren't too concerned and will check again monday.

I had 2 hours of Braxton Hicks contractions (more than 5 in an hour) and some other cramping (I'm 36 weeks tomorrow). I called the DR after having 5 in an hour, and she wanted me to keep timing them and call back after a second hour...toward the end of the 2nd hour they became slower and further apart...and then just went away.

It was scary! I was afraid I was going into labor early and worried about how it was affecting my baby (luckily she was super active at that time too) ....

I feel much better today, but as a side note, it did force me to finish packing my damn hospital bag.

@annerz22 It's Not That I want Him Born Early...I Thought It Was Going To Happen Last Night So I Was Just excited. Also he is measuring 2 weeks ahead so I felt it was ok. I have mild preclampsia so my Dr is ok with me delivering at anytime at this point.

@a316b are you feeling pressure? I seriously feel like he gonna pop out of me any second lol. I see my Dr Monday so hopefully some progress. Any progress would make me feel better at this point lol

@MrsLawson15 Total bowling ball between my legs. feels like she'll drop out with every step I take or every bump I hit while driving, lol
