Trying to Get Pregnant

The (PreBaby) Bucket List

Good morning ladies.

So AF came to visit this morning.... BOOOO!  In an effort to stay positive and focused on the end result I wanted to start a bit of a trend.

First a little history (insert Wayne and Garth flash back dance).

My DD is the lovely age of 5.  She was a HUGE surprise and oops for me.  I didn't find out I was pregnant until week 12, but that is another story or an episode of "I did know I was Pregnant".  Anyway, needless to say, I was single, shocked, and very scared.  I spent my second trimester deciding if I was going to give her away for adoption or keep her.  Once I decided to keep her (best decision by the way:)), I spent my last trimester in fear of what was going to happen to my life and all the changes, etc. (very selfish now that I look back).  I didn't enjoy my pregnancy journey at all.

Back to the present day. My DH and I are TTC and for the first time, I am really excited about all of this.  The ups and the downs.  So when AF came this morning, I had a pity party for one in the bathroom and then put my big girl pants on and decided I was going to enjoy this stage of pregnancy as well.  So I am listing all the things you can't/shouldn't do while pregnant and I'm going to check a couple off my list during my Follicular phase.  I realize this was touched on in a previous post, but I think this could be a fun way to move past the ending of one cycle and enjoy the beginning of a new.  So here is my "Before PreBaby Bucket List" (please feel free to add on - the more the merrier).

  1. Buy some Brie, Feta, and Blue cheese and have an unpasteurized cheese party.
  2. Try the new Crown Royal Apple whiskey (here is a site with recipes - https://www.indeeph2o.com/crown-royal-regal-apple-cocktail-recipes-crownapple/ :))
  3. Try a Hot Yoga class to get rid of the above calories and feel good about checking in on @27Alex's Monday check in.
  4. Eat some sushi (I know this can be okay while pregnant if from a reputable and sanitary source).
  5. Snuggle extra with my cat "Kitty".
  6. Snuggle with our two ferrets, Bugsy and Capone.
  7. Enjoy my afternoon coffee.
  8. Paint my DD bathroom.
  9. Ride the New York, New York roller coaster (think my DD is finally tall enough).
  10. Go to a wine tasting event with my BFF.
  11. Find new and exciting positions for the BD (yeah that Cosmo one in a previous thread might make the list :)).
  12. Wear an outfit that has been hiding in my closet that I know I won't fit into once I get my BFP and a few weeks along.

I hope you ladies enjoy and I can't wait to hear your ideas.

Heather

  • Great idea!  Get into a somewhat regular work out routine, break out that "little" date night outfit I bought last summer and haven't worn yet, savor my two cups of coffee, organize a happy hour with my coworkers at our favorite Mexican restaurant and enjoy that tequila. . .

  • Great post!

I avidly workout and strength train and I have a feeling that I will have to cut back to lighter weights/less intense workouts once preggo ... so I'm going to keep working my ass off hard until that stick tells me otherwise! I know you can keep working out and doing what your body is already used to, but I also know that my workouts are SUPER intense and probably aren't great during the first tri when there are still potential issues that can happen.

Ultimately though, I want to be in the best shape possible when I get pregnant since I tend to gain weight super fast/easily and I don't want to start myself off on the wrong foot.
  • @heawilliams - Great post! :) #9 is so much fun and scary. I'm not going to lie...I peed a little! Lol.

  • All of the cheese you listed is found pastuerized in your local store. You shouldn't have to withhold during pregnancy. If you buy directly from the farm or specialty from Europe, then you'll need to be careful. Hell, listeria was recently found in some ice cream that had to be recalled (not the same concern as the cheese, but listeria is something you want to avoid).

Another vote for sleeping on my stomach.
  • Mine was take DS to Disneyworld and Universal and I get to ride all of the rides!!!

We took him last month, and boy did I ride those rides!!!! The last time I was in Disneyworld I was pregnant with DS, and I was on the sidelines while my family rode rides.
I was so excited to finally ride the Harry Potter ride, and the Simpsons Springfield was open this time so I had a blast!

  • Sex, booze, if I'm not pregnant before Disney (in May) I'll be riding the Tower of Terror at least 10 times.

What a great idea!!! I love Disneyland and it's close enough to swing a weekend getaway!!

  • What a fun post, @heawilliams !! On my list are forcing Hubby to take off work for our honeymoon, begin weight training routine, and have some Kerbey Queso a few times. What're we waiting for?!
  • Such a good idea! I'm heading overseas in a week - no BFP so I'll probably be indulging in the local alcoholic beverages and cocktails! It was a nice consolation prize.

  • I want to take a cruise and we have one set for end of August. I have been on 2 but was pregnant on both. I had just found out I was pregnant with #1 DD on the first and was 4 months along with #2 on the 2nd one. I want to sip alcohol for a week and relax. Maybe #3 can happen during this time!!

This was the first discussion post I read... and I have waited patiently for 72 hours until I was officially a Bump member to post!! THIS DISCUSSION IS AWESOME!!! My DH and I are only in our first month of TTC, and we already have ideas for what to do when we get our first BFN (I'm prepared for the this to take a while, so I'm trying to stay mentally ready for AF to come each month). Some things we have brainstormed:

    1. Delicious fancy cocktails.
    2. All the coffee. Seriously.
    3. Blue cheese, brie, feta
    4. Raw Honey in tea.
    5. Runny Eggs. OMG yum.

I'm hoping that my excitement for some of these things will help the blow of my first BFN. I know that even though I'm prepared, it will still be a big bummer. Not trying to sound like a Debby Downer, just trying to be realistic, here!

  • I love this post! I actually made a list like this to help me cope with my miscarriage a few weeks ago and my DH went out and bought me all the foods on my list to cheer me up. :)

    1. I second @mrs3615 , I love my eggs over easy!
    2. I'm also running more to de stress, something I know you can still do while pregnant, but I know the first trimester is a sensitive time and I will probably have to switch to something more low impact.
    3. Chocolate. Lots of it! Again I know you can have this during pregnancy but having to not worry about counting the milligrams of caffeine is great!
    4. Feta cheese
    5. Sleeping flat on my back
    6. Licorice
    7. Herbal teas that have not been tested "safe" during pregnancy
    8. Sushi
    9. Sleeping in and having uninterrupted sleep
  • 1. Sleeping sleeping sleeping.
    2. Loving on my dog even more...if possible. Prob not. Can't imagine another creature taking up as much of my heart as he does, but I've heard that's what happens...
    3. Long weekend with DH and dog at a lake. We still haven't taken our honeymoon!
