I am lactose intolerant and have neverduring my eveloped a taste for milk. What do you recommend for me to drink during my pregnancy to get calcium? I have increased the amount of yogurt I eat. Anything else that I should do?
Try a calcium chew, be careful eating to much yogurt though. Although some lactose is broken down, making it easier to have, not all of it is. You may start having issues if you eat to much.
I'd suggest the Great Value Lactose Free milk..I get it from Walmart. It's cheap, not too sweet (like the almond milks), and it has a long shelf life..just make sure once you open it to drink it within a week!
I just recently tried Fairlife milk.... it honestly has like no taste at all, might as well be drinking water. It's lactose free, has 50% more protein, and 30% more calcium than traditional milk. It is still cows milk, but ultra filtered. Also on the pricy side, but to not have an upset tummy after drinking it, YES PLEASE, plus the added extra bonuses make me a happy customer.
You can get calcium in a lot of other foods besides milk! Leafy greens, citrus, legumes, broccoli.. Research different foods that you might like instead
Have you ever tried hemp milk? I'm also lactose intolerant and most other options just don't taste good to me but hemp milk is good has a super long shelf life and they have different flavors (i love the chocolate) its a more creamy then regal milk but thats kinda one of the reasons i love it you can get it from most grocery stores
I hate dairy, I am too lactose intolerant. I've been forcing myself to drink a glass of lactaid milk a day and it's not bad. I do eat yogurt as well, sometimes it sits okay...other days it doesn't.
