Baby Names

Throwing my names in to the ring!

My husband and I are pretty sure we've got our names locked down, just curious as to what you guys think!

Our girl would be Callista Celeste Asher (Callie as her nickname, Celeste after my husband's older sister who passed away at age 21)

Our boy would be Cooper Daniel Asher (Daniel is a running trend in husband's family as a middle name) my husband really likes Cooper, and I'm generally okay with it.

Whay do you guys think? I'm 100 percent firm on my girl name though, but of course I'm open to all comments :)

Callista Celeste isn't bad...a bit of a mouthful but both nice names

For the boy name, I'm not a big fan of the first and last name both ending in er

  • Is asher your last name?
My mom keeps suggesting Callista to me because of her love for Callista flockheart the actress. I wouldn't use it myself but I do think it's a nice name. The fn/mn combo is not bad, though I'm not usually a fan of same letter first and middle initials.
I've never really liked cooper to be honest. I like Daniel better, and think you should use that for the first name and break the trend.

Yes Asher is our last name :)

I've been okay with Cooper, but not wild about it. @LNic5 brought up a good point that the first and last name would end with Er. I'll have to talk to hubby about it!

  • Love Callista, meh on Cooper.
  • I like them but as soon as it was pointed out, yeah the double "er" for Cooper Asher sounds a little odd, but it's not terrible.

And I like that they both have meaning with the middle names.

Ditto this exactly. I like the possibility of the nn CC for your girl name. Callisto is really pretty.

    DD2 born 5/14/13.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.
  • Callista Celeste is gorgeous.

Cooper is meh.  I do think that it pairs nicely with Daniel, though, I think that Cooper Asher sounds odd.  I don't like the double -er ending.  If it were me, I would either choose Daniel Cooper (not sure if that works with your husband's family's tradition) or pick a different first name (simply because of the double -er, not for my feelings on the name Cooper).

  • Cooper is an extremely common dog name. So I wouldn't choose that.
  • I love Callista.

I'm less thrilled with Cooper which is really a last name (it's a trade name, a cooper being a person who makes barrels.) Also it's the name of my neighbors' dog.

    What about Calvin?

  • Girl name is fine, boy name has two surnames, suggest dropping the first one.

Yes, this. We had a dog named Cooper. I assume that's why it screams "dog" to me.
  • Callista Celeste is pretty nice.

I hate cooper to me it is a dogs name. i LOVE Daniel
  • Thanks for all the input! My girl name is a go, but I'll start exploring some other boy names. Hopefully husband will consider some other options!
  • Calista Asher is nice. I don't care for Cooper Asher. How about Clinton Asher, Caleb Asher, Jeremy Asher, Benjamin Asher, or Gregory Asher.

    Very nice!
  • Callista and Celeste are both very nice but I think they are so similar that I wouldn't pair them together. It's like they're competing. I would choose one and showcase it with a shorter, classic name.

Callista Jane, Lynn or Brynn, Joy, Grace, Rose
Celeste Ann, Elise, Grace, Cora, Hope, Faith, Amy

Not a fan of Cooper Asher. Doesn't flow. Like previous suggestion of Caleb Daniel Asher or Benjamin Daniel Asher. Also like Casey or maybe Jonathan.

  • Cooper sounds like a peptual 4 year old. Guaranteed he will be call Pooper. Coop doesn't sound any older then 4 years old either. Daniel Cooper is so much better. There are a lot of " Super Coopers" out there. Your girls name is very nice.
  • I love PPs suggestion of Jeremy Asher
  • I like them both! Callista is beautiful, and I think Cooper is perfectly fine. It doesn't seem juvenile. No different than Parker, etc. I wouldn't associate it with dogs either.
