Crying/Eating- Possible Growth Spurt?

I have an almost 3 week old little boy and I am a FTM EBF. For the past 4-5 days, he has been super fussy non-stop, especially at night. From 1am-6am, he is crying/eating/wants to be held the whole time. It has been trying, but my husband and I have worked out "sleep" schedules for ourselves, so we have been making it work, even if we are zombie-like right now. For the past day, however, my son now needs to be held all day all of the time and usually by me. He also wants to eat 24/7. Could this be a growth spurt? I will usually change his diaper, feed him (also give gripe water for some gas issues and lots of burping/leg movements to help), and then hold him. He used to have no problem sleeping in his swing and also the bassinet and now I can't get him near anything other than my arms. Any thoughts, ideas if it sounds like a growth spurt, just a phase, and also what I can do to help him sleep w/out needing to be in my arms 24/7, making very long days/nights. Thanks!!

  • My little girl is currently doing the same thing, up all night and wanting the eat constantly. I asked my midwife about it and she said that the eating was probably due to a growth spurt, and as tiring and hard as it might be, feeding on demand is the best thing for bubba. However the being up all night and need to be held is still unclear to me, I've just taken to sending my husband to sleep on the sofa and having little one in bed with me.
