Morning Sickness and Working 5 days a week!

I'm 6 weeks 4 days. I'm an admin and work 5 days a week 8-5. Until yesterday I hadn't really had much nausea and now I'm always nauseous. I'm also not ready to tell anyone at work! Any tips on how to relieve the nausea or advice? What are other people doing?!

  • I'd ask your doctor. For some people things like sea bands work but mine was just getting worse and worse and while I don't work outside of the home I do try to keep a clean house, cook and plan fun activities with my daughter and I haven't been able to function for the last couple weeks. We tried zofran, b6/unisom, and then finally promethazine and it's been the only thing that works. I guess it just depends on how well you're able to handle it but if it's bad enough ask your doctor.

  • Sea bands work for me! Good luck :)
  • Peppermint oil and tea work for me. I put peppermint oil on my wrists and my chest and I find it temporarily helps but when I can get a peppermint tea it takes my nausea away for the whole day :)

  • Ginger Ale and vanilla wafers for me! Lol
  • Great tips everyone thank you!! I'll have to start trying these things! However I'm glad I'm not alone in the battle!
  • I teach 6th grade and had to take a few days off work because I'm pretty sure the constant vomiting in my classroom trashcan is going to scar all of my little beans for life! I've been really bad lately and I'm currently monitoring myself ( OBs orders) if I can't keep anything down for another 6 hours, its to the ER for me...I hope this doesn't last my whole pregnancy!!
  • I'm also 5 days at the office and going through this.  I keep saltines in my car and at my desk.  I find that or dry cereal (Cheerios or Kix) do the trick.  Keeping something in your stomach might help keep the nausea "under control".  Admittedly, it was too much once or twice already and I've had to use a sick day, but generally speaking I have made it work.  I'm struggling just as much with the extreme fatigue and no amount of crackers or dry cereal helps that sadly.
  • One of the best things I started was eating some Ritz or Saltines before getting out of bed in the morning. I find that I'm most nauseous when my stomach is empty, so this allows me to get out of bed and get my day started. Things that also help: Gin-Gins ginger chews, granola bars, hummus and carrots, and Gatorade. Every day is still a battle, but it really can be about mind over matter. Once you realize that throwing up won't make you feel better, you can persist with the nausea. It totally sucks, but... hopefully it will pass!
  • Oh I am so in the same boat!  It is so hard to get sick in the office bathroom- the only silver lining is my boss does know. We had a MC in Nov 2014 so I had to go in really early for blood test and a Dr appointment out of the blue.  I have ordered some Seabands and Preggie pops in hope that they will help me get through this. I can totally deal with be sick to my stomach all day but its actually throwing up at work that is annoying. My dr also said half a unisom and B6 but itll make me sleep so I am planning on trying it tonight!

    Best of luck Mommy!

Me too! I work full time as well. Yesterday I got soooo sick at work it was awful. After I was finished I popped a fruit lifesaver in my mouth after rinsing and went on with the day. Ugh it hasn't gotten easier but I am 9w 3d so I'm hoping only 3 more weeks or so of it! Anyway, I keep lots of snacks and things I can munch on at work like crackers, chips, and I also have ginger ale. I got an RX from Diclegis from my doctor but it doesn't seem to work, seabands also didn't do anything. Thankfully everyone is very understanding of what I'm going through, and I've found that true with most women who are moms or men with wives!

  • Ginger ale helped a lot. Also, fwiw, I found that eating too much or not eating enough were nausea triggers.

  • Popsicles, the real fruit kind have been my saving grace. They calm my stomach down in no time.
  • Peppermint anything helps me! :)
  • Sprite ♡
  • I work in sports and my hours vary based on our game and event schedule. I normally work 50-60 hours a week. I am 7w 2d and have not told my boss yet. I'm constantly nauseous and when I do eat, everything leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. I'm not sure what that's all about. Saltines and water seem to be the only things that I can really stomach. I hate to complain but I am struggling! I think I'll try out the seabands and see if that helps.
