Dizzy spells, seeing stars?

This is my fourth baby but I have never experienced anything like it before. I know my iron is low but I have been taking extra supplements for about a month or more now so it should be back to normal or on its way there. My blood pressure is good so far this pregnancy. I have been going through a lot of stress ( probably the most in my life ever) over the past few weeks... I don't know if it could be chalked up to that... Anyone ever experience this? I see my doctor on Thursday and am planning on mentioning it but thought I would see if anyone ever dealt with anything similar.

Re: Dizzy spells, seeing stars?

  • Yes. Could be nothing but it's also a symptom of pre-eclampsia. My doc advised to always call if that happens. Call right away!

  • I'd definitely call and try to get seen today if possible.  My doctor also advises to call if I experience anything like that.  It could be that you are tired, stressed, dehdrated, r just getting up too fast but it's better to be safe and get seen.

  • I agree- call your doc, let them know, they'll decide if they want you in today or if Thursday is fine
  • This happens to me sometimes when I'm dehydrated or stand up too fast

  • I get that too, but I've always had abnormally low blood pressure even before I got pregnant. It seems to have been happening more lately though.
  • I got that also . With numbness tingling in my leg which I thought was sciatic . Told my midwife she sent me for mri which I thought was totally unnessasary . I went for it they found 10 lesions on my brain and was diagnosed with ms . If you feel
Something's not right get it checked better safe than sorry ...
  • I get it too. I don't really know why! I have been taking iron supplements too and today it happened pretty significantly. I made sure to stay sitting the whole time, ate almonds and chugged water. It has come and gone all pregnancy (and actually, happened pre-pregnancy too). I just do my best to make sure I'm seated.
  • I am on partial bed rest due to high blood pressure and was told to contact the doctors should those symptoms start to occur. So, it could be the start of a blood pressure issue. I'm 34 weeks and was just diagnosed.
  • Thanks ladies! My doctor called me right away, she said since I have been taking so much iron for the past little while it's not due to anemia. She said it's something they call Vaso Vegal (sp?) . Apparently compression stockings can help a lot. My blood pressure has been good right along, and no other symptoms so that is ruled out. The only danger is that when I feel dizzy and clammy like I'm going to pass out, it's likely that I will, so I have to be careful as to sit down and rest. A fall like that could be dangerous to myself and the baby. It seems to have improved a bit today however.
