Carrier For Very Petite Mom

Hey everyone!

My daughter is 4 months and I have a Lillebaby Complete and a Baby K'Tan. Tried a Boba Wrap, but it was too much to deal with, since I have a short torso and wide hips. The K'Tan was PERFECT during the newborn months, but it's getting too small for her and my daughter hates the fabric bunching between her legs, which just means her legs aren't in an ergonomic shape. Which brings me to the Lillebaby Complete. I thought this carrier was going to be perfect for me. 6 positions, super comfortable. NOT. It's so cumbersome that I can barely see over my baby's head when walking, and she isn't old enough to go on my back or hip, so I have to walk super slow. I almost tripped the other day and I'm terrified it might happen again. Plus she's in the 25% for weight and height, so she's in this awkward stage where the convertible narrow to wide seat is too narrow in its first setting and too wide in its second! She dangles in the first setting, which is horrible, and I'm afraid the wide setting might hurt her little legs. My family is very active and I'd prefer a carrier to bringing a stroller wherever I go, as I live in a city where people have huge strollers and my tiny one gets run off the sidewalk!

So I was wondering: any carriers out there that aren't cumbersome for a small lady with a small torso? Anything where I might be able to see over my baby's head when walking without her being too low? I would really appreciate some help. I tried making a ring sling, but I am not coordinated enough to tie it and pay attention to the different ends, etc, especially while out, and it gets pretty humid here, so I'm afraid of my baby overheating.

I would really appreciate any advice! I took my daughter out in the Lillebaby yesterday and she fussed and looked so uncomfy that I started to feel like maybe babywearing wasn't for us, but I love wearing her! Thank you so much in advance!

  • I am 5' even and use an Ergo carrier. It's more like a backpack you wear on the front and can adjust the straps so the baby's head sits low enough to see over. It works ok for me but I haven't tried any others. It supposedly has back support but my back hurts when I wear him a long time.
