Restless legs

Im 22 weeks pregnant and the last few days I've had horrible restless legs. Is that normal ?

Re: Restless legs

  • Very normal. But it likely means you have low iron. I'd mention it to the OB next appt. They will likely do a blood test and put you on a supplement.

  • also stretch! If I don't do stretches everyday I get restless legs as well

  • Yes!! I find it helps to work my leg muscles to get rid of the feeling. For example lay on your back and lift your legs up only 10 inches or so but keeping them straight. Hold them there and feel the burn! It sort of 'satisfies' the naggy restless feeling. Good luck!
  • I get restless legs often. A magnesium supplement typically works within 15 minutes for me.

  • I do at least a half hour of stretching and yoga before bed because otherwise I just can't sleep because my legs are driving me crazy. My chiropractor said that a magnesium supplement would probably help. Low iron is another cause though. I was drinking a smoothie with all kinds of extra good stuff in it and I didn't drink it at all last week so I'm going to see if drinking it helps me this week. I have read several places that bananas help!
  • So normal! They were getting horrible last week so I started drinking more water and started taking my iron pills once a day which has seemed to help so far and stretching before bed. :) pregnancy brings on so many odd & of course beautiful things lol
  • I thought this was a symptom we just had to deal with, good to know there are some ways to help it.

  • I get it at the same time every night! I've started soaking in a hot bath just before bed. It really helps me!
