Re: shortness of breath...

  • Yes me too. I'm even having issues walking up stairs. I feel ridiculous even admitting that so early on!

Me too. I do a lot of talking for work and have to pace myself so I'm not out of breath too quickly.
  • Yes me as well. I will be 9 weeks tomorrow and it is starting to subside. It has been rough though
  • I am. I think it has something to do with going from a 38h to busting out of my current bras. Any lengthy walking or stairs is pure hell atm.
  • I've been getting winded going up stairs or while on brisk walks, too! I think I read that I had to do with the increased volume of blood?
  • My doctor said its because of our increased blood volume while pregnant and that its normal! I've been experiencing that a lot too!! Along with feeling like my heart is beating out of my chest!
  • I do happen to have an oximeter and I checked my heart rate and oxygen after walking stairs and winded. My Heart Rate Was very elevated 130's. As soon as I rest it subsides. Elevated hr is due to the increased blood volume I've read. Also my boobs are huge!
  • YES so glad there is a post about this, because I was feeling like wtf is going on, i was SUPER fit before and ran a few times a week and did zumba and stuff, and now when I go for a walk or walk up a few flights of stairs I am out of breath. I am annoyed by this!!!
  • Agreed - I feel so embarrassed when I get to the top of the steps. I don't want anyone to hear me puffing!
  • I get superrrrr out of breath but have a blood disease that causes my body to destroy it's own blood supply. Red blood cells carry oxygen to the body. Your body is working hard to provide blood to you and the baby. Doesn't mean something is wrong, like in my case, but just that your body is working harder.
  • Going through the same! I was always very active so it's weird that now just on short walks I have to slow down and catch my breath! Even waking up in the morning and walking from my bed to the kitchen makes me short of breath. My doctor had me do bloodwork to make sure I'm not anemic which she said is common in pregnant women and can cause this shortness of breath. If I am I will likely up my iron intake.
  • I thought i'd revive this thread since we're all in our third trimesters.

have any of you found easy ways to temporarily relieve any shortness of breath?
I literally feel like breathing is one of the most difficult things now as baby grows.
i'm still fairly physically active and this phenomenon is certainly making it increasingly more difficult to stay active.

  • Pretty much the only thing that seems to help me is a big stretch (arms raised above head). I'm only 5 feet tall and I feel like DD is taking up every. square. inch of my torso. Lol

I'm five foot five, but I seem to not have much of a torso-- so DD is def, taking up all of my "free" space internally.
