Chiropractor?

I've never been to a chiropractor (because, honestly, it freaks me out a little bit) but my sciatic nerve/SI joint area is KILLING ME.
It hurt so bad! I'm a teacher, so I stand/walk a lot and I try to wear good shoes already but it isn't helping.
Has anyone been to a chiropractor while pregnant and can kind of tell me what to expect?

I have always gone to a chiropractor, before and during pregnancy - LOVE them and amazing!!!!
I always got relief and felt so much better. When you find one, just let them know of your concerns about them, and they should be great with you

  • I went to one that my dr. suggested. It was AMAZING. I can't believe I hadn't done it sooner. The relief was instant.
  • I get adjusted once a week! Nothing to be scared about :)
  • I have gone when pregnant and not pregnant. I went to a chiropractor Friday because I was having horrible headaches and it helped. However, I don't know what happened today, but all of a sudden got sharp pain in my low back. I'm glad I already have an appointment Wednesday. My doctor said it was fine. I would ask a friend for a referral to one in your area, that might make you more comfortable.
  • Love my chiropractor! I see him all the time and so do my kids. He adjusts my babies too! Helps with colic a lot!
  • Def ask around first!!! There are some really awful ones out there.
  • Yes life saver, just be sure you are going to a reputable chiropractor that frequently treats pregnant clients- as above said, there are sooo many out there, I would be hesitant in just picking a random one- hope you get relief!

  • Definitely ask around for a good chiropractor recommendation. It took me 2-3 to find one who I felt was capable of treating me. Ask your doctor or search for someone who does the Webster method (though it is NOT a requirement for pregnancy - mine does not). I was treated both before/after pregnancy, with my first pregnancy, and now again with my second pregnancy. I think it makes an amazing difference. Just beware - one session does not make a healthy body. You'll need to go regularly to keep your body in alignment, and don't be surprised if you have some pain after your first few sessions. Your muscles are used to being out of place, which makes an alignment similar to a strong workout. You're asking your muscles to do something they're not used to (by supporting your spine in true alignment).

Take your baby once baby is born, too. I have been taking my two year old since she was born. Yesterday I took her to see "Dr. Bob" and she was excited because he "tickles her ears and tickles her back."

Love my chiropractor. Be aware when he cracks your neck it may sound really loud in your head! But there's literally no pain. I went where my mom was going so I didn't do any research but I am going now for sciatica and have gone prior to being pregnant for other SI joint troubled and a pinching nerve in my shoulder. Don't be scared! It's great. I always wait too long before I go and then I'm always so relieved when I've gone.
  • Couldn't live without my chiro
  • I have a really awesome chiropractor! I had never been to one before I was pregnant but I put my tailbone out (thank you loosening joints) and it was the only thing I could do to find relief. Turns out, during pregnancy a chiropractor really is an excellent idea because they can release your round ligaments, let me tell you, that has been must for me, and they can help make sure that baby has enough room in there and help baby be in the right position for birth, which makes birth easier. We all want that little perk!
  • I used to manage a chiropractors office. I have been seeing him since 2012. I couldn't live without adjustments. I have also developed carpal tunnel and he uses kinesio tape and does some work to make it not so painful! If you can go, definitely do it.
