ive been having painful cramps all day today, like really bad period cramps. It's on the left side. Is there anything to make it go away or do you think it's serious enough to call in?
If you are not sure, call your doctor. I am not sure any of us are qualified to tell you if its serious, or have the best sense of how painful it is. I'm sure we can all attest to having cramps now and again in our pregnancies but I'd say if it's a new thing for you, call a professional Good luck!
I've been having menstrual-like cramps off and on for last couple days. My doctor said it's probably just my uterus stretching but my research has also listed that as a sign of preterm labor. Not sure when to just go in and get checked. I know I'm not being helpful but just letting you know you aren't alone. I'm 29w2d. Good luck! Crossing my fingers for the both of us that it's nothing serious

Yep I'd say you definitely aren't alone! I've tried stretching.
I would call that in. Just for my own peace of mind. What could be something pretty boring for me could be the start of something serious for you, or vice versa. Especially since its been an 'all day' thing and you're thinking its fairly painful. We're all at the point where I might begin to be concerned over cramps lasting that long and that painfully. If for no other reason, to get the nurse / dr to give you some recommendations for the pain.
I'm gonna call. I really hope and pray im not going through premature labor. Thank you ladies for replying so quick! I've been on Google all day and couldn't find any good answers
So finally someone got on the phone with me and they told me to take a warm bath and take Tylenol and if the pain worsens (which its very bad right now) or if I start bleeding or if my water breaks then to come it.
They don't want to see me. I want to go in but they told me to wait. They think it's from dehydration but I know it's not. I'll do what they told me but if I'm still having bad cramps In two hours then I'm going in

Yes, do that. Then you'll be able to report you did all the other things, then. I hope they take it seriously if you still feel crampy in a couple of hours!

I am totally behind this plan. And I'm glad you're advocating for yourself
Definitely call in! I was having the same type of cramps Thursday evening and they wanted me to come in as soon as I could. I went in Friday and ended up being admitted for pre-term labor. Thankfully, they were able to stop everything and I was able to go home yesterday evening, but if I were you I would not take any chances. I was unsure of whether or not to call in on Thursday, but I am so thankful I did because they were able to stay ahead of full blown labor.
Oh wow! Yeah I'm so scared its pre term labor but I'm hoping for the best! Idk how I'm suppose to know if my water breaks if they want me to take a warm bath but I just took some Tylenol so I'll see if the cramping stops if not then I'm calling again to go in. Did you have any other symptoms then bad cramps?
Well, my cramps didn't stop or feel alleviated with Tylenol, a bath or anything really. I was having more than four in a hour which mid what made them tell me to come in for precaution. Then when I did come in they discovered that I was starting to dialate. I am hoping for the very best for you, I just wanted to share what happened with me this weekend because you will never regret going in if something isn't wrong, but you would regret it if something were happening and you didn't!

I agree with PP. Go in if that's what your gut feeling is telling you. When I had mild cramping with a little spotting at 23 weeks, I called L&D. The nurse told me to see how it goes through the day since my cramps weren't too bad and to call them later. When I asked of it's ok for me to go to work she said, "well I'm sure you're fine but just come in anyway if you want." It's a good thing I went in because it turns out my cervix was shortening and dilating. Things are ok now but I'm glad I trusted my instincts and went in.
The best of luck to you! Keep us posted on how you're doing.
I've been having cramps all day, dull achey cramps with occasional sharp cramps and back ache. I called labor and delivery and they had me come in. They checked my cervix, checked for a bladder infection, checked for kidney stones, monitored by belly and gave me an ultrasound- they did see uterus " contractions" But they said my cervix was closed and they did some test that they swab your cervix and test for enzymes that will tell you if you are going into labor within the next 72hours, luckily everything came back negative. I'm having twins and baby b is now also head down, I swear I felt her get into that position last night so they said it could just be my cervix that's been irritated.
They said to drinks lots and lots of water and if Tylenol doesn't help and if the cramps get worse to go back in. They also said to try resting.
I'm in Canada ( go free health care) so they told me to come in straight away when I called- that could also be because I'm having multiples and the chances of preterm labor are much higher. I'm not sure how it works in the states. Don't ever feel silly to go into the hospital if you don't feel right, better safe than sorry.
I ended up going in tonight after calling the on call doctor. They did a non-stress test and figured out that I am having small but irregular contractions which tells them I have an irritable uterus. They checked my cervix and it's completely closed thankfully. I just have to keep hydrated and take it easy.
I agree with PP, I'd go in if I were you. I feel so much better knowing that my baby is okay and that my cervix is closed. Keep us updated and good luck
The Tylenol helped but only for 30 mins and then the pain came back with a vengeance. The Tylenol didn't make the cramping go away but it kinda helped the pain lighten up but not for long. I've peed 6 times within the last hour so I know I can't be dehydrated. It doesn't hurt when I pee and I'm also not bleeding or having any discharge. Just awful period cramps. Baby is still moving though. So idk. I don't think I'll be able to sleep through this pain and I've been weary of going in because It mine and my husbands one year anniversary but I think I should go in because of how bad they are.

Ive been having menstrual like cramping too. I was told theyre the famous "Braxton Hick" contractions. That prepare you for labor. But always when in doubt call your Doc! Hope all is well!

I hope everything turned out well! Give us an update when you have a chance?
I really hate when doctors say "don't come in"... I was in active labor with DS and the on call doctor argued with me over the phone that I was not in labor! I asserted myself with her and she begrudgingly said to come in... Yeah I was admitted quickly because I was actually in labor. She of course demanded I walk the halls before she would check on me (I threw up everywhere so I think the nurses regretted that decision hahah). Doctors don't always make the best decisions you have to listen to yourself!
I have been having cramping for three days. Had an appt today, cervix closed but put me in the monitor. Mild contractions is what they said. I was told to drink more (I drink tons) and rest. Now I'm just nervous about every little feeling! I'm only 30 weeks.
Hey ladies I'm 30 weeks with twins today I'm having really bad pain like menstrual pain and my back is killing me , I have the apointment in 32 weeks I don't know what to do , scared of preterm labor
@essablero I was having the same period cramps at night. I talked to my doctor about it yesterday. She said to try and drink loads of water and keep track of how many times it's happening in an hour. If it's more than six times to call the after hours line or go into the hospital to get checked out. I've only got a singleton so I'm not sure what the difference would be with twins, but if it's happening regularly I'd get checked out.
