DH and I went to Babies R Us to register this weekend--holy cow, was it overwhelming! We both had minor freakouts of "OMG we have no idea what we're doing", and "OMG how are we ever going to get all this sh!t?!' Luckily our moments of panic were at different times so we were able to calm each other down!

Anyways, Babies R Us automatically puts A TON of diapers on your registry. After watching our registry list grow and grow, I'm tempted to go through and remove all the diapers completely. I figure, diapers are more of a monthly expense and what we really need right off the bat are the other items on the registry (sheets, bottles, diaper bag, humidifier, etc). Is this a mistake?
On a side note, I've made a mental note that from now on, every baby shower I attend I will buy the least "fun" thing on the registry! I feel like there are so many essentials that we really need that folks won't buy because it's not cute or fun. Oh well, I'm just going to count my blessings that someone has been generous enough to throw us shower, and remind myself that our parents raised us without half this stuff!
Re: To register for diapers, or not to register for diapers
I know several people who do a diaper raffle at showers so for someone who has no clue about diapers or babies a little guidance wouldn't hurt.
We put a few boxes on ours.
