home/ daycare center cost ??

How much does in-home/ daycare center cost per week for an infant??

Re: home/ daycare center cost ??

  • This will vary largely depending on where you live- I would post in your local board or maybe ask some friends or coworkers with kids in daycare to get a better idea.

I paid $40/day for an infant, and it went to $35/day as a toddler. We only pay when we go. He goes three days per week so our costs are $105. I usually give her a $200 Christmas bonus and on our anniversary I usually get her a $100 gift card to go out for dinner. She has 5 kids at one time. One kid is going to kindergarten so I'm hoping the spot stays open for my baby girl.

Edit to add I live in philly suburbs.

  • In our area the going rate at a daycare is $270/wk. :-O
  • My area (Austin, TX) is $900 to $1200 per month. I would goggle places in your area to get a price range or ask your local board for specifics.

I live in the Boston burbs, too. With my first we had a nanny because it cost the same (actually a little less) as a daycare, which would have been $2,400/month for an infant.

  • We are going with an in-home daycare recommended to me by a friend who takes her kids there, $200/week.
  • I'm in small town North Dakota and my DD goes to a home daycare. We pay $22.50/day and only days that she's there. She's usually there 5 days a week but if we go out of town or something, we don't get charged for pulling her out.

One place near where my husband works would be almost $1500 a month for 5 days a week (Princeton, NJ area). I'm looking at another place as they have a discount for college employees.

Here in the middle of KS it's anywhere from $195-$285 from the places I've checked with. I feel like it's a little high for this area, but what can I do about it!? At least I don't live near Boston!! Omg!!
  • I live in CT. A center is $400-450/week, in home (based on friends who run day ares) around $350/week

  • The ranges I've encountered are $190-$327 per week. I'm in Pittsburgh and this includes some suburban and downtown locations.
  • We will be paying $30 a day for in-home daycare for our LO. I'm in St. Louis and this is considered very cheap. A woman in my office has her infant in a daycare and pays $375 a week!

This. Just to make everyone living anywhere else feel a bit better, i have numerous friends and coworkers paying $3000/mo for daycare in downtown Boston. We likely won't do much better. A friend in the DC suburbs was shocked by $400/week. Costs vary widely by location.

It's those Bright Horizons downtown! I had one in my old building, and it was $2,800 for an older infant/young toddler when I looked at it. I needed care for two months as a bridge because we were moving out of the city, so I was going to suck it up and do it. I thought surely they'd have spots since it was priced so high. NOPE! They could give me one day a week. Haha!

  • I do home daycare and charge $20 a day for full time infant care. I'm in the spokane/ cda area

Wow, that is so cheap! I think you deserve more and could at least double your rate. How many kids do you take care of?

  • We just placed a deposit for a home daycare in our area (upstate NY area) for $175/week for full time care. No more than 5 kids (no more than 2 under 2 at a time) are there at a time, she is licensed with one assistant.  She provides all food (healthy NY food program for daycares) and formula (if needed).
  • Socal area where I live: average is $300, or $1200 monthly.
    Me (27) & Hubby (40): 1/22/11
    EDD of 1st: 9/11/15
    PhD grad date: 6/1/16
  • We pay $1300 a month.
